“5-STAR!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

I've stayed at this resort the last 2 years and will return again this September. In lieu of listing all the 'positives' about this resort I will say that I've not experienced '1 negative'. The owners/managers of this resort continue to maintain EXCELLENCE! - - I'm a 'born and bred' Washingtonian but have been living in Arizona for 11 years - when I 'come home', as with anyone else, I don't want to be disappointed - - that's why I will continue to stay at this resort when I go to Hood Canal

I see from prior review that it looked brand new back in 2005, however I must say it still looks brand new in 2012. We were traveling the 101 south and chose this place at random and were glad we did. The help was friendly, the rooms were comfortable and roomy, the view was absolutely awsome and the price reasonable. What morecan you ask for!

What might have been the only down side was the fact that the rooms were right on the hiway, however we heard absolutely no road noise that evening, and even had a nice porch from which to admire the view. We would happily return.

We went to this resort for a 3 night getaway and were very surprised. The resort is immaculate! Very tidy and the rooms are CLEAN. We had a 1 bedroom suite which was furnished with everything you could possibly need. The rest of our building was vacant so we basically had the whole building to ourselves. It was very quiet and peaceful.
Not much to do in the town of Hoodsport unless you are a diver or hunting for clams/oysters and in April not all of the businesses are open for the summer tourists but we took a drive north and found Hamma Hamma seafood and got some great chowder and smoked salmon. There is a small casino not far south called Lucky Dog and you can pass some time there on the penny slots (give away your money). We'd definately go back the the Glen Ayr and bring some food to cook since the dining options aren't very good.

We booked a room last minute as our starting on the Olympic Penninsula loop. We were a little skeptical when so many rooms were available, not to mention it being SO cheap, on Labor Day Weekend. What a find! The room and grounds were so clean. The staff were very nice and the spa house (huge hot tub) was great! We had room #1 which is upstairs and has a water view. I wish we were staying here the rest of our trip. What a find! We will be back.

We arrived here after having an adventure driving all around the Peninsula..we hadn't booked anything ahead, and were getting tired, but nothing we passed looked inviting. When we saw the resort, we immediately knew it was our kind of place! It was 8:03, and the office had just closed, the girl working looked out and offered to help us. She stayed late to book us into our amazing room..and reminded us to enjoy the hot tub! This hotel is so well maintained, the room was immaculate and the giant hot tub was deserted! We loved it and will return again!!! The view was amazing, and there is a private dock to walk to and enjoy. By the way, we had dinner at the local Mexican restaurant...delicious!!

GlenAyr resort was a great place to stay for access to the Staircase entry of Olympic National Park. After checking in mid-afternoon, we had plenty of time to do one side of the Staircase Rapids Trail - including the walk into the Trailhead from the Park gate because it's still closed to cars in April.
We stayed in a Waterview room on the second floor; the view of Hood Canal was good.
Summary - a clean, well-located and affordable room.
When in Hoodsport in April, however, note the diner (that we went to at least) closes off dinner service at 7pm and the only place we found for breakfast in the local Hoodsport shops was the Mexican restaurant.

My husband and I stayed at Glen Ayr only for one night while driving around Hood Canal. The manager, Jo, was such a joy and had a fabulous voice (as we found during the Karaoke night in the motel's community room). Her family was very friendly as well. The whole place is neat as a pin from the room, eight-person hot tub, walkways, landscaping, community grilling, and gazebo. The motel has a private dock and beach access across the street - also very clean. They rent crab pots and you can fish from the deck. I wish we could have stayed a few days longer!
