We were frequent (and happy) patrons of Prohibition Grille prior to Gordon Ramsay's makeover into the "Prohibition Gastropub". The main reason we used to drive 15 miles to eat there was because of the Southern-themed gourmet food - their cornbread was the best I've ever had, and they were the only place in the area that served grits.
That was then, this is now...unfortunately. We ate there for the first time since it's "makeover" into the "Gastropub" 3 days ago. We were disappointed to see the menu pared down to one skimpy page, and dramatically reduced selections. The menu now is generic - nothing standout or different that we can't get anywhere else for the same or less. That being said - the food, while unimaginative, IS good and the service was excellent. (The server intimated that they would be bringing back some of the old favorites). But really, we can get beef stroganoff, steak, burgers, and salmon anywhere in town and not drive 15 miles for it. It was their old menu that set them apart from everywhere else.
The live music is always good, and the servers personable and attentive. However, unfortunately if they don't return some of their old favorites, we don't see a reason to go there over other comparable places closer to home. Parking is lacking and the tables out front are awkward and literally right next to the bar.
