We went for one of thre wild flower hikes and tours. It was great. The visitors center is very nice, the view of Mt Rainier and Mt,. Adams is great and the tour of the generating facility is very .
informative.

The docents and other staff are knowledgable and friendly.

“Beautiful, fascinating, memorable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

The locals were so enthusiastic about this tour and visitor's center, we had to go. Be sure and take the guided tour, amazing. The long driveway into the center was beautiful, glad we took our motorcycle even though we needed to negotiate a gravel parking lot, no problem. Look UP inside the visitor's center, gorgous construction of wood and glass. Our guides were exceptionally knowledgeable about the science of wind energy, as well as the flora and fauna in abundance even in this high desert. Spectacular views despite haze of smoke from western wildfires. Our favorite part: standing INSIDE of a working windmill aptly named "White Bird." Imagine a fantastic "Hummming" sound as you look up inside a three story structure! Take your wind jackets, hard hats and safety glasses are provided. A fantastic afternoon adventure.

This was so interesting we spent more time than we had planned. Try to make it for one of the guided tour times. Bring a coat - its windy.

“Fascinating!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

My husband and I decided to visit this after seeing reviews of it on **TRIPADVISOR**!! The personnel asked how we had found out about the facility, and we told them we had seen it *here*..they were delighted!! They need to have better signs...we would not have known about it if we had not seen it on TA!!

IF you plan to visit...we had traveled on I-90 and took exit #136 (look on website for directions from other locations) and took the Vantage Highway. You have to travel around 8 miles to get to the drive (there is ANOTHER *building* on the way that ALSO has a sign saying "Energy"..they are a COMPETITOR...we stopped to double check..apparently, it happens ALL the time!)..anyway, KEEP GOING to the ARCH...THEN, it's another 3 miles or so UP the HILL...and the *visitor center* is at the TOP of the hill.

We were not fortunate enough to be there at the times of the tours (free) 10am or 2pm. The videos in the center were interesting and helpful in seeing the structures during the building process.

The center itself is a lovely facility...there is even a lego station for the younger visitors. They could easily have more souveniers to make it more profitable (if that is their desire).

Well worth the trip if even just to see the landscape of all the turbines (and Cindy 31589 is absolutely correct..it's WINDY!!!)
