Myself and my family arrived at the Lodge @ 12 noon on Sunday. A bit earlier than expected and we were made aware priviously that a wedding party would not be vacating until 1 pm Sunday. We had been camping prior to this so we figured if we arrived an hour early it would be no big deal. The Lodge visually is stunning. As we sat taking in the sights we noticed several doors to the rooms were open as housekeeping was busy doing what they do. As we passed by the rooms, they were completely trashed. Broken beer bottles littered the ground and cigarette butts were everywhere. It was hard not to take notice.
We decided to go into what is the main room and it looked like a frat party gone bad. The front desk gal was completely appologetic stating a wedding had taken place there the previous night. I am not sure what took place but the poor cleaning girls looked beyond tired and this was clearly not what I would expect people in a wedding to leave such an amazing place looking like.
We were told that it was going to be quite a few hours befor we could enter our room becasue of the severity of the damage to the rooms from the wedding party. We had brought our dog and the weather was beyond hot so the front desk gal offered that we could keep the dog in the room until housekeeping could get to our room. We entered the lower level room and it stunk like smoke, broken glass littered the master bathroom. And outdoor furniture was set up in the middle of the room.
We put our dog in the front bathroom, the one without broken glass and waited paintenly by the pool taking in all the beauty. The wonderful gal at the front desk let us prepare our lunch in the main part of the lodge. The kitchen was grand. If I ever get my kitcher redone I want it just like theirs. The windows facing the mountains were stunning in spite of the beer bottles sitting atop the fireplace and any place with a flat surface. We lingered about and finally decided to hang out at the pool. It was like our own private mansion. The pool was completely empty and the kids just enjoyed the afternoon swimming and playing.
We unfortunalty could not get into our room until a little after 7:30 due to the amount of cleaning needed in all the rooms. Another couple we were meeting could not get into their room until 8.The General Manager was kind enough to give a VERY NICE bottle of wine and bent over backwards with apologies. The weather was fantastic. We floated the Yakima River on Monday and went for a short hike nearby. The scenery is breathtaking.
We would absolutly recommend this facilty. Very family friendly. Pool, hot tub lots of areas for kids to run around.
