I was in Ellensburg for a workshop in early June 2013. The function was conducted at another local hotel but as an HHonors Gold working on status retention for 2014, I chose to stay at the Hampton.
The Hampton is located on the north edge of town and thus not "where the action is" but if you have a car, no problem. I arrived a bit before 3 pm, and was quickly checked in to my room on the third floor.
There was nothing remarkable about the room. Emblematic of the newer Hampton Inn motif, it was clean and quiet. Everything worked well with the exception of the bathroom sink drain, which acted like it was clogged. On my way out a half hour later, I reported this to the front desk and asked that it be fixed. I was told the maintenance person had left early. Therefore, no resolution could be effected that day. The front desk clerk offered to move me to another room but given that I had already unpacked and needed to get on to business at the workshop hotel, I declined. I wondered why the hotel didn't require maintenance to remain on site until later, when most guests would have checked in, so s/he could attend to any issues such as I had encountered. Probably because they rarely have any problems, with the hotel as new as it is. While an inconvenience, I concluded that my slow-draining sink problem didn't rise to a level commensurate with invoking Hampton's Free Stay Guarantee. The hotel maintenance person took care of it the next day.
If I ever revisit Ellensburg, I would stay here again.
