“Beautiful cottages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

The resort is now owned by Worldmark and have been completely renovated. Our cottage was a a one bedroom and had a great view of the marina. Having a hot tub on the deck was a nice perk too. It's a quiet location and we really enjoyed our stay here.

We initially got introduced to the resort at Deer Harbor through Groupon. We were lucky and were able to stay at the new cottages during late fall. The view from it was lovely (looks into the deer harbor) and the walks around the area are great. The ultimate bonus is a private hot tub at every cottage. In the evening, you can sit and relax in the hot tub while enjoying a drink, looking at the harbor view. The staffs are also great.
The only slight complaint is that there really is no great nearby location to eat. Make sure to get some grocery from East sound Market.
The 2nd time we went, it was early winter. We couldn't get the nice new cottages so we got what they called a "remodeled" old cottage. It too had nice hot tub. The only issue is...it is super cold (since my husband who rarely ever gets cold got cold during the night). We had to ask for extra log and bought another one from the market just to keep the room hot. Other than that, it was absolutely great place for a romantic weekend getaway.

Room Tip: Choose new cottages with harbor view. Try to avoid old cottages that are remodeled (although these a...

Although I didn't see much resemblance between the photos online and my room, I had an overall nice stay.

The staff was lovely and as much as I like to get checkin done as quickly as possible I had a good chat with the lady behind the front desk. The grounds keepers gave me some tips for a nice walk to take my kids on. There is a small harbor that's lovely to look at and fun for quick trip with kids. There is very little to do, but I think that's the point. Get into it. Enjoy the private hot tub, read, walk, sleep.

It's a 20 minute drive into town, there is no internet and as I recall phone service is next to nonexistent, so perfect for getting away. .

I only stayed for one night but the whole experience of getting to the Island via ferry and just the chance to drive around such a pristine place was worth it.

My husband and I are having an amazing time here on Orcas Island. We love the rosort and find it to be clean and welcoming. Linda at the front desk is friendly and helpful. The hot tub is awesome after a day of exploring! We hiked Mountain Lake today, about 4 miles, and it was perfect! Moran State Park is a must see! We went to the much buzzed about Rose Bakery were we had a very expensive below par lucnh with some of the worse service we have ever experience in our life! But This resprt is lovely, I think anyone coming here will have a wonderful time!

My husband and I were here in late September and stayed in a Deluxe suite. We had a 2 night Groupon deal (basically a 2 for 1 night stay). The suites were newly renovated and the lay out was nice and there was plenty of room. Although we didn't have a waterfront view suite, the next row is staggered behind them and we had great views of the water and Marina. (no need to pay extra for the waterfront). We bought groceries and kept them in the fridge for lunch and snacks. Stop in Anacortes or somewhere else for this before you get there if you are going in the evening because the town will not offer anything at night. Nice spread for breakfast and good coffee in the main building. Although we went out for dinner, the barbeques seemed convenient to use and had we not wanted a break from cooking, we would have gladly used them. The hot tub on the deck was quite private and a nice touch. The staff were by to check the levels and clean it daily. The town is a nice 15 minute drive away but doesn't offer a lot; quaint and a nice walk. We had dinner at a different location (Deer harbor Inn.) We actually walked by three deer grazing on the grass as we entered the restaurant! very peaceful. The restaurant has great food and they were very accommodating with my complicated food allergy. Although it is fine dining, no need to dress up - it's very casual. (the whole island is extremely casual, laid back and generally slow moving! - culture shock for city dwellers but a welcome experience). The suite was clean and well equipped for a weekend getaway. We loved it and would return for a couples weekend alone. The ferry ride to and from Anacortes was beautiful on the sunny day going home.

Room Tip: Deluxe suite has a nice view of marina and waterfront

If you're looking for a posh resort, you probably won't like this one. Think of a Best Western with a great view and a private hot tub for every room. While the room we stayed in showed some wear in terms of carpet and drapes, it was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The hot tub and view made up for the room's aesthetic shortcomings. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. If you want to unplug, this is a great place to do it. Wi-fi is only available in the lobby and cell service is spotty depending on your carrier. (You can pay a local company a daily rate to get wi-fi in your room.) We did this on a Groupon, so it was a good deal. I might have been less enthusiastic if I had paid full price.

As a first-time visitor to Orcas Island, I didn't know what to expect but the beauty and tranquility of the island blew me away. The Resort is in a good location with a wonderful view of the harbor, and it's really a really a collection of cabins that varied in price and quality. Started our stay in a Historical Cottage but were moved to an updated hill unit. The Historical Cottage was cozy and adequate, but after experiencing an updated room, I would have definitely booked it instead. I had tried to find out information on the different options, but the website only shows pictures of the really nice Deluxe Cottages. The quality of the more expensive units is dramatically different, so definitely go for the upgrade!

Loved the continental breakfast and that each cabin has its own hot tub! Would definitely stay there again and recommend it!
