“A WONDERFUL WEEKEND AWESOME HOTEL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

We came to the Weinhard Hotel for the Mystery weekend, what a SUPER GREAT TIME, hotel staff was great, we came in Fri afternoon, room was ready wth fruits & candy. Anything you asked for, was no problem. Shellie & Gary are GREAT. The hotel is old Victorian, the rooms are gorgeous all furnishings are old antiques, where can you sleep on a canopy bed from the 1800s. THe hotel sponsors a Mystery Weekend several times a year, starts Saturday morning, & ends Sunday morning the theme is usually Murder at the Deadwood Salon, where all participants dress in character, which you receive a week before the weekend. You walk around town getting clues , bribe people, participate in a poker tournment, after all clues you go back to hotel for a social hour & a 4 course dinner, everyone should try this weekend out, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Also the town business look forward to meeting new people & they also get into the act. CANT SAY enough about the great hotel.

Room Tip: Every room isw different, most rooms double, one room has twin beds, several suites, one with a bal...

Bev,
We had great fun with you and the rest of the Deadwood Saloon patrons! Thank you so much for being a part of the event. I'm glad you were able to come a day early and experience Dayton for a full weekend. Gary and I hope you will join us again for another Murder Mystery - or just a relaxing weekend away. You've already made friends here, so why not?!
All the best to you,
Shellie

We were having trouble finding rooms in the area for two nights in a row som we decided on spending one night in Dayton. What a wonderful surprise to have the atmosphere and hospitality of The Weinhard Hotel in such a quaint town. The rooms are amazing and the friendliness of the owners makes you feel like you want to come back. We will definitely stop on our next trip to the area to enjoy this historic hotel again.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the outdoor rooftop patio are the best

We'd spent years driving past the historic Weinhard Hotel on our way to Portland. We kept promising ourselves that we would book a stay and at long last we finally did! Could not have been happier! What a delight to have the opportunity to view many of the rooms before they were occupied. Such incredible antiques! The rooftop garden was so relaxing. They even provide blankets to enjoy the garden when the weather is crisp. They really have thought of everything! We enjoyed the the modern comforts immersed in beautiful antique decor and are looking forward to returning again soon!

I've had the pleasure of staying at the Weinhard twice during the summer and fall of 2013. The historic building is overwhelmingly charming and has the old, solid character of an earlier time. The doors, fixtures, woodwork, sconces, wainscoating, and especially the amazing old furniture all add immense character to the rooms. The beds are SUPER comfortable with the most amazing sheets and everything was extremely clean. The owner exudes a genuine sense of hospitality and warmth that I've personally never experienced before, and treats everyone as if they are personal guests visiting his own home. The rooftop terrace is one of the highlights of this hotel: the large outdoor space on the second floor is packed with potted plants of all sizes and feels like a magical garden. There's also a freestanding propane fireplace that guests can crowd around to enjoy wine and share good company- the hotel even provides snuggly fleece blankets for people to use to keep cozy while out on the terrace!
The Weinhard Cafe (across the street) offers great food (but closes early! watch the time if you're planning on dinner!) and the hotel itself has a coffee/espresso bar downstairs and a complimentary breakfast.
If pressed to think of a con, my only caution would be to request a back-facing room if you are a light sleeper. The (historic?) windows do not insultate much of the noise from traffic on main street.

This experience was like stepping back in time to enjoy elegance, but at an affordable price. We loved the extremely soft sheets and the roof garden, too. There is no elevator, so book a first floor room if needed.

The hotel was everything we expected and more. We loved the Victorian style with modern amenities, such as fast wifi and flat screen television. The hosts were very welcoming and invited us to make ourselves at home. For those of you who awake hours before the lovely continental breakfast, there is a coffee cart in the lobby, ready to go. Just push the on switch. The rooftop garden is a wonderful backdrop for photos. The hotel is rich with history of the Dayton area and Weinhard family. Historical photos adorn the walls throughout the hotel. We must mention the sheets. They are fine microfiber that you just melt into. It is where modern luxurious fabric meets romantic and original handmade quilt. Although we heard rumors of a hotel ghost, we were fortunate enough not to meet one. It was a lovely stay building fond memories.

Room Tip: If you are looking for adventure, go for haunted room 16. For a larger room, go with six. Handicappe...

We booked a night at the Weinhard Hotel because we like to stay in historic older hotels. We were met by the owner when we checked in and were trreated like VIP guests. We got lots of history about the hotel (not originally a hotel, but built by a cousin [also a brewer] of brew famous Henry Weinhard) and the community. The lobby is well appointed with a grand piano and great antiques. When we got to our room there was a bowl of fresh fruit waiting for us. The room, like the lobby, was beautifully decorated - what a great experience! The hotel also has a deck with a propane fireplace and a BBQ for guests to use - unfortunately it was rainy when we were in dayton so we didn't get to take advantage of the deck. In the morning we had a nice breakfast adjacent to the lobby in the hotels coffee shop. All in all the staff was great and our room more than met our expectations. We took time to visit the county courthouse (the oldest operating courhouse in the state of WA), a historic railroad depot and walk around town. We now have the Weinhard Hotel and Dayton on our list of places to stay on our way to the Pacific Coast - a little slower route but worth it!!

Room Tip: In the summer you might want to pick one of the 15 rooms that are not next to the outdoor patio - mi...
