“Very pleasant visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We stayed one night at the Weinhard and enjoyed it thoroughly. Gary checked us in and offered friendly, helpful advice about restaurants, etc. There were cider, crackers, & cheese in the lobby (late afternoon). Our room was plenty large (#3) and well appointed, including a little frig. The ceilings were very high, so it felt extra roomy. We heard no hotel or outside noise during the night--although we had the AC fan on, so it could have masked noises. The morning continental breakfast was adequate--coffee and muffins were very good. We were totally satisfied. If you have time, take one of the walking tours of the nearby historic neighborhoods--really interesting.

The original owners did a magnificent job restoring this historic three story building, plus roof top garden. Our phone conversations with the staff had been most enjoyable, and we were greeted warmly. The hotel is wonderfully furnished with antiques. Our room was comfortable; the bed having high quality sheets that may be ordered for purchase. However, underneath the warm, spotless elegance were some details that might be addressed. Guests are welcomed with fruit and a piece of chocolate in their rooms. Ours had no chocolate. Being chocolate lovers we mentioned it. Our host at the desk seemed not sure about believing us, and then said the "we are training a new girl." A minor thing but how things are handled matters. Most disappointing was breakfast, which basically consisted of cereal and muffins on a serving board, with the rest in a fridge. Weak coffee is served, but a stronger brew must be must be purchased. While many inns and hotels sell odds and ends, there seemed to be just a hint of excess in this area. Such a lovely place should try to be sure that what guests receive matches the impressions given by the building and its history, which is beautifully written and presented in a booklet in each room. All in all good value for the price, breakfast excepted. One last note. Rooms on the front, right on main street may be noisy for light sleepers.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter

I travel to Dayton a few times a year and usually stay with my family and friends at the Weinhard Cottage. Great place! Comfortable, very clean and with a fully equipped kitchen. The owners are hospitable and accomodating. The price is reasonable and affordable for a family and provides you and your guests with a home like setting. I love to sit on the front porch swing with a cup of coffee in the morning and an ice tea in the evening. The cottage has 2 bedrooms upstairs: 1 queen, 1 full. A couch that makes into a bed downstairs and you can easily close the room off for privacy. The cottage has a bath upstairs (tub no shower) and a bath downstairs (tub & shower). There is also a large room upstairs with a TV and comfortable seating. Your hosts provide you with a picnic basket full of goodies for your stay: muffins, juice, fruit, chocolates. I highly recommend the Cottage for a group stay.

Possibly the best and most complete restoration I've seen of a historic hotel. Charming accommodations, fresh fruit and chocolate basket in the room, excellent service without being intrusive, very, very friendly owners and every need anticipated. Had a wonderful stay in the big "fancy room" on the second floor. DO pay attention to the restaurant recommendations of the owner. We didn't. :-( We'll visit again and recommend to our friends.

I had been wanting to get to Dayton for years and was so pleased with this great little town. Not too many towns in Washington are "picturesque" but Dayton surely is. My stay at the Weinhard was good except for the fact that the bar across the street closes late Saturday nights and what with the loud music from inside (which carried across the street) and shouting outside, I got to sleep only after closing. Best to get a room off the main street weekends if you are a light sleeper.

We have stayed at the Weinhard Hotel several times over the last few years. The accommodations are refreshing, relaxing and very clean. The owners are lovely people and we really enjoy talking with them when we stay. The hotel and furnishings are beautiful and the rooftop garden is wonderful! We have stayed in various rooms on the first and 2nd floor and found each one to be very comfortable. The sheets are luxurious and the fruit basket with chocolate in the room is a nice touch. Even with 2 picky boys, we all find something to eat and drink at the continental breakfast. We look forward to our next stay at the hotel!

We were lucky enough to stay at this very good hotel at the Vacation Cottage. We were profoundly pleased with the furnishings, facilities and decor of this cottage. Had a super time at Dayton and enjoyed meeting the owners. Recommend this hotel to anyone....a real bargin.

Room Tip: Sorry I made a mark but no pool and no restaurant. All rooms looked very very good and clean?
