“Great if you are GF, otherwise skip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013 via mobile

Lots of options here if you are GF, but we aren't. Limited to crepes, which by itself wouldn't be a deal breaker, but they are heavy and a bit sweet--not the greatest for lunch. Service is crazy slow; seems like they can make only one crepe at a time even if there are two of you.

At Bear Foods, we continually strive to deliver an experience that is nothing short of amazing for all that visit, and while our crepes do happen to be GF and allergy-free (dairy, soy, and egg free), we pride ourselves in producing food that is delicious for all. While I personally dislike excuses, I can tell you that due to the recent increase in lunch traffic this year, we recently hired an additional employee for the cafe, who was in training at the time you visited, and I am sure that accounts for the slightly increased delay you experienced. All of our food is created to order, so it would never be considered 'fast food'. As a Creperie, our intention is to promote crepes, although there are a couple of delicious salads and often a homemade soup is available, which is always worth a try. We hope that you get the chance to come and taste our unique offerings again, and to see how high our standards are. We look forward to seeing you again when you are next in town. Nicholas Pascoe, Owner.

“Local goodness”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

The food here was a very nice surprise - went with the suggestion of the staff and had the tuna which had a nice little bit of spice to it. They have complimentary herb and fruit water which is really refreshing. The place had locals as well as visitors inside and it was great to snoop thru the attached market for all the wonderful, natural healthy foods they sell.

“Best Surprise in Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

The crepes at Bear Foods were some of the best I have ever had, and by far the best eatery in Chelen. I didn't know what to expect when I read the ingredients they use, which are designed to any allergy someone may have and are organic, but was very impressed with their creations. I say creations because they make crepes that I have never heard of elsewhere. I had the English Breakfast crepe (which I highly recommend), but sampled many others from around the table and they were all very good. Be sure to treat yourself and end with a desert crepe!

“Fun!”

Amazing place. Lots to check out even if not shopping for food/groceries. Worth a walk-through. And you'll very likely find a few things you must take home with you. :-)
