We just got back from another trip to this facility. I must say this time was more of a disappointment. After being there for a couple hours, we were quite bored. This place actually may just be a "once in a couple year" thing with our family now. The check in was average, and our room again, was decent. The waterpark this time was a bit more dirty then we remember from our last trip. Also, we came across several life guards that really should have been doing their jobs, instead of playing kiss kiss with each other. One child actually got stuck in the deepest end of the wave pool, and was in distress...another life guard had to jump in to help him. wow. was a liability for the lodge.
We did the arcade again, which is pretty neat, but really gobbles up money, and the return is small garbage items, that are meant for way-younger children.
After sitting in the not so, hot tub, we had a discussion with some other people, about this place, and we heard from them to stay away from the spa.. I was a bit shocked, as I took my daughter in last time and she had a great experience, but the lady told us about some very young and dumb employees, that gave out false information and messed up her appointments. We decided to skip the spa this time, and maybe if we come back, I will bring in my little niece, who really wants to go to the kids thing.. I have heard that place is very cool, and the last time we went in to look around, the lady was very helpful and showed the place off... I cant remember her name, but ask for the one with 15+ years of experience doing nails, or something like that. She really sounded like a sweet heart with kids.
The food this time was less then stellar, in fact, we bagged going out to dinner there, and went down the road to Centralia and ate at the mexican place. Good stuff.
Remember to bring your own snacks, dont waste time or money on the food at the lodge... it's too, hit and miss for a decent meal.
On the way out, be sure to get some of the great treats up by the teens dance club area.. most all are tasty and great to go items.
Bring your own watersox, as I witnessed too many people with nasty feet, as in, wow, I hope that is not something that spreads... Now I know why the waterpark smells like a chemical plant... with this many people and the nasty feet, etc around, the water almost needs to be boiled every hour.
The outside of the place is cool, and provides a great picture shot to add to your scrap booking, girls.
My husband tried to get wireless, but was told by the front desk, the facility doesnt off it. ?? how could a place like this NOT offer wireless?
The place is still too young, and I think too many issues are still around when it comes to quality people working and providing customer service. Try the place out, its worth at least one visit, but keep in mind of the dollars you will drop.
One last thing... And I hate to point this out, but with such a large, and I'm sure, expensive place, there are nothing but junk trailer parks all around it! Seriously, what the hell made these guys pick this place to put a facility like this in?
Grand Mound is like a ghost town, other then this lodge. Gas is $3 a gallon at the local Am/PM.
I think we will be going to Idaho next time, to a place called silverwood theme park. check this place out, its showing great promise for both extreme rides and waterpark fun.
Hope this helps someone.
