We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at Essence of Health. The main benefits were the location – just off the road into Mt St Helens National Park, so very convenient for a visit to the park, but also really rural and quiet – and the size – a large bedroom, living room, full kitchen and bathroom, for just the two of us. The interiors were clean and welcoming, and cool on a very hot day, and the bed was very comfortable – firm but not hard. But the really unbeatable thing was the opportunity to watch wildlife from the private veranda – in just a couple of hours one evening, we saw a group of six deer, three pairs of hummingbirds and lots of other birds, as well as fox squirrels and lots of butterflies, damselflies and dragonflies. It was just lovely.
My only small complaint was the breakfast. I knew it would be self-service and left in the fridge, but it was a bit meagre – some fruit, supermarket granola parfait and jams and spreads, and very firm (possibly not the freshest?) bread rolls. It was fine, and still generous for the incredibly reasonable price, so all I would say is to bring food with you for breakfast if you want a more extensive spread.
We had a very nice time and would definitely stay again if we come back to Mount St Helens.
