“What a diner should be like”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Classic 50's-style diner, complete with 50's music played on satellite radio at a reasonable volume. All of the food is homemade from scratch. No boxes of frozen stuff here. The food comes hot off the grill so quickly that you will need to let it cool for a minute or 2 before eating. Nicki's fish-n-chips are legendary for a good reason. The all-you-can-eat steak fries are huge and delicious. The menu also includes at least a dozen different burgers. These burgers will feed even the biggest appetites. The prices are a little higher than average, but that is because these very generous portions guarantee that nobody will leave hungry. The friendly service is yet another reason to keep going back.

“Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Had the best Fish and Chips, could not finish the chips. Brother-in-law had the biggest hamburger he need a fork and knife to tackle it. No room for fried Mars bar :-(. Looking forward to next trip.

“Nicki's Diner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

This funky little 50's-theme diner has the best fish and chips in the Birch Bay area. Beer and wine selection is limited, but reasonable.
Small play tables are provided to keep young children occupied. A good family cafe, but limited parking.

“Fabulous fish and chips & terrific burgers at this family restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

Fabulous fish & chips, great burgers and efficient service, just a few min's from Blaine . For just $12.99 the fish & chips dinner is two big, very lightly-battered pieces of fish and all-u-can eat fries, and the fish is cooked perfectly; flaky and moist. The server brings the fish & chips out so quickly after cooking, that the fish is piping hot. The chips are all u can eat, but the fish pieces are big and the accompanying portion of fries is so generous that we have never been able to take them up on the offer of more fries. Once,we had the fish in a fish taco and it was excellent. The server/owner is very friendly and soft drink or iced tea refills are always offered immed. before or as soon as we reach the bottom of our glasses. Nicki's is licensed, so you can have a lovely cold beer with your meal. There are some booths, some tables, and even a tiny little table and chairs for little kids. The music & diner decor suit the menu.

“The Food Is Expensive, The Atmosphere is Horrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

I took my children to eat here and was shocked by the horrible décor and even worse food. I ordered a hot dog they dropped in a grease fryer and called it 'gourmet'. That was $10. My kids had a sloppy burger with lettuce and tomato and cheese. All together it was $50. It was absolutely NOT WORTH IT. What is most disturbing about this place is the 'art work' of a woman's backside bending over with a giant flower prominently displayed over her genitals to ponder as my children ate their greasy fries. The bathroom is not clean, the service is not great. They are in need of a drastic makeover before I will waste my money there again.

Thank you again for your “review” I feel you have left out a few facts..but that is alright, I will cover them for you. Our Hot Dogs are 10 inches long and weigh in at 1/2 a pound per dog. The bun is a custom locally produced bun. It has to be for a 10" hot dog. So yes it is a little expensive but you can feed two people with one dog. $5.99 not a bad price. We do not!!!! DO NOT FRY OUR HOT DOGS!!!! The are steamed and finished on the grill. We have quite a few kids meals, Fish and chips, Hamburgers and Chips Chicken strips and Chips all with no preservatives, your kids can have a salad instead of fries.....wait for it $4.99. For a great quality kids meal. What is really “disturbing” about this review. Is the artwork critique. That poster that you are referring to is from the 50's. It has been hanging in this little diner since 1992, when I personally hung it on the wall. I am a girl and think its a great picture. Its on our Facebook page for anyone who wants to see, a customer put it up there...because it was a great picture. It came down for two years, when we rented out the space. While we opened our Bellingham location. PS. we own building...(so we are not going anywhere, even though you wished us that in your emails) When we opened back up it went back on the wall in the same spot. PS there are no genitals under the flower you were “pondering” you are wrong!! Ponder that. Our bathrooms are very clean we have people that make regular stops there when they are on the road because they are clean. Again we have been in business since 1992 – we have a great following of people who actually do appreciate quality. But thank you for your comments. You say we need a makeover, the place was renovated in 2010... new everything. Except the artwork, so I guess we just have to say Thank you graciously for your review, from all of us at Nicki's Diner. I don't mean to be offensive, but right is always right. So sorry we wont see you again, it would have been fun to meet.
