“Fun retro property! Loved the cabin!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

We rented cabin 4 which was toward the back of the row of cabins. Highly recommend this one if you are only renting only 1 cabin. There are 4 cabins and the back area lines the creek. Each cabin had a large bbq/fire pit, picnic table and lawn chairs. Plenty of room to hang out and you can hear the crickets and see many types of birds in back. The cabin had two bedrooms with double beds. The beds were fairly comfortable and had new mattresses. The cabin had some standard amenities to cook with. I would recommend bringing your extra cookware, paper plates, special seasonings etc. Decent sized refrigerator as well. No dishwasher but they supply soap for washing dishes. The cabin has cable tv with several options and a stand alone wood burning fireplace. The inn provides a nice pool which was very large. Not too many in Birch Bay so this was a plus. We had friends rent the studios too. Cabins were clean and definitely retro. Good price for a holiday weekend. Great place for large groups.

If you want to go back to the 50's then you'll like it here. They haven't renovated since then. The studio has dark wood paneling on every wall, it smells old, the carpet is old, has flat pillows, uncomfortable mattress, not enough blankets, no phone. The bathtub is small RV size. The soap is too small to hold on to. Fake flowers over the mirror. Windows don't open. The fan over the bed is noisy. $60 a night is asking too much. It's the tackiest place I've ever seen. Total rip off.

Room Tip: Only stayed here once. I haven't stayed in more than one room here. Don't think I'll eve...

Driftwood Inn is a funky collection of rooms, suites and cabins in an old-fashioned, sleepy, beach resort. Affordable and family-oriented, this motel is memorable for its very friendly and accommodating owners and well-maintained flower-filled grounds and pool. We stay in cabin # 4 which backs onto Terrell Creek. Entertainment includes cable TV and wifi, a nice pool in season, the beach across the street, the state park next door, bicycling around the bay and walking to "town" about 10-15 minutes away. Or, you can just watch the ducks float left or right with the tide while having a BBQ on your patio. Accommodations are pretty basic. But the kitchens are functional and the cabins offer two small bedrooms. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are also small, which might be a problem for some. We keep coming back to visit owner Michelle and her family, and to enjoy the beach town atmosphere of days gone by, where the candy store and fish-and-chips are among the main attractions. There is a water park for more hyper youngsters, but thankfully this is inland and out of sight of the waterfront, where wading, picnics, crabbing and stolling around the bay keep most visitors happy. Driftwood Inn fits perfectly with this old-style ambience and really offers a home away from home:)

Room Tip: Cabins are more spacious and a better option for families, but all rooms and suites seem quite large

Driftwood Inn is an affordable getaway for families of any size. If you don't mind cozy accommodations this place would work well for you.

My family of 5 have stayed in their suites and cabins during the summer months and have enjoyed our stay every time. The rooms can be quite cozy for a family our size but we were hardly indoors so we didn't mind. The decor and furniture are outdated and the rooms have an old rustic smell. I did appreciate the seperate bedrooms! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare simple meals including a small microwave and coffee maker.

The great thing about this place is that they have a nice outdoor pool and a wonderful picnic area with bbq grills and picnic tables. There is a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the sunset and also have a bonfire just literally across the street. The owners are very very nice and are always going the extra mile to make sure their guests have everything they need to enjoy their stay. Because of their generosity and kindness Driftwood Inn will always be considered for one of our many mini family getaways.

Room Tip: I prefer staying in one of their cabins.

We stayed in room 12 in august of 2012. If you go into this "motel" with high expectations you will definatly be dissapointed. Don't get me wrong its not bad but its also not good. The rooms are large but old, everything in it is old and dated including a bit of a musty smell. The room is clean enough. The location is at the end of Birch Bay strip so its a long walk but doable. This motel is the cheapest one in Birch Bay. If you go in with the mind frame that you are renting a cabin more on the rustic side you won't be disapointed. It does have a nice outdoor pool as well. If you are looking for a cheep place to stay its a decent value.
