“good food sometimes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

when the food is right on it is great we eat here once a week and most of the time we are happy we did get a steak that was cold to the touch and when it came back it had been microwaved to warm it up this is one of the bad meals then we have had some of t he best chicken ever and great hamburgers it seems to depend on who is cooking which is always a bad thing for a restaurant but we give this place a 4 over all there is a high volume of regulars but all in all they make you feel welcome i will go back

“Classic and Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

If the Alger Bar & Grille were located in a metropolitan area, which it is most certainly not!, it would be one of those friendly neighborhood places very like the one in the Boston based sitcom from years ago. You know the one...

The food is pretty typical bar food fare: burgers, fries, slaw and so forth, mixed with regional favorites: oysters, prawns, fried clams. However, the "specialty of the house" is ultra-rich fettuccine, available in various incarnations. My favorite swings between the seafood blend and the chicken and scallops.

Service is welcoming and friendly, the clientele an eclectic mix. I always enjoy eating there and feel satisfied by my food and the comfortable atmosphere.

“Nothing Special...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We have stopped at the Alger Bar & Grille a couple of times for a hamburger. It is nothing special, just an average bar with average food.
