Spent one night at the brand new Springhill Suites in Bellingham. It's located at the airport exit, just north of town, east of Interstate 5, convenient to the airport and to town.
The building is completely new and the lobby and guest rooms are spacious. Parking both underground and on surface lots. The halls are wide, quiet, and carpeted. Our guest room had an unusual design feature - two separate rooms for shower/sink and toilet/sink, both with sliding glass doors (a little disruptive if someone is trying to sleep and another is using one of the rooms) - but fabulous internet connection, useful workstation, plenty of storage and drawers, reading lamps over the beds, and a clever configuration that actually lets you close the drapes and keep the sunlight out.
The staff was primed; very enthusiastic and friendly, really working to make sure the guests were satisfied. Breakfast exceeded our expectations and included the usual bites and great oatmeal, fresh fruit (strawberries!), cheese, meat, two kinds of eggs, breakfast sausage, and surprisingly good coffee. The lobby also has a small "store" with a fair variety of snacks, and frozen foods.
Nice workout room off the lobby that far exceeds most comparable properties. Small pool and hot tub we didn't use.
I visit Bellingham frequently and usually stay at the Hampton Inn. (I'm platinum Marriott and Diamond Hilton.) That said, the breakfast, modern guest room, workout room, internet, and availability of late night snacks all have me pointing to the Springhill Suites next time I'm in town.
