“Good Student Joint”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

We've been wanting to try Goat Mountain Pizza for some time now and purchasing a Deal Saver coupon gave us the opportunity which was good since the price is high for a pizza joint.

You should know that the pizza is priced by the pound which is sneaky since you have no idea how much you pizza will cost until they actually weigh it. And it is expensive for what you get. For the cost of the two pieces we got we could have easily purchased an entire fancy pizza at one of the take and bake places in town or a couple of pizzas at one of the national chains.

That said, the pizza is good and it is made with locally sourced products or in house made ingredients such as their fennel sausage. The crust is like focaccia bread though they do make their own crust dough in house.

Several beers are on tap and there is plenty of seating upstairs. Friendly staff but you have to step up to order your food. No table service. College students who have the money to pay for an organic style funky pizza place while hanging out downtown will enjoy this place. But if they are looking to just fill that empty spot in their tummies with the few bucks they have in their pocket plus a few friends while studying for finals, those few bucks will go a lot further at the joints students already know are good AND much cheaper up the street.

“Good Pizza and Beer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

This looks like a student-type restaurant: affordable large pizza serving which they will cut into smaller sizes for group grazing. There are meat and meatless options and the vegetarian spinach pizza was delish. The meat option pizza was tasty as well. Appears that they change up the pizza choices often. The draft beer was great with numerous choices. You can dine up or downstairs. Didn't eat outside because the weather was inclement. The restaurant is near the main part of the "old" town which has been largely renovated. This was a quick stop for us as we returned from the Bellingham airport. Will try it again.

“Five Star Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

Goat Mountain Pizza puts the "art" back in to artisan. A creative gourmet adventure is what you will find here. Goat Mountain starts with its own ciabatta-like crust and then adds its delightful toppings--bbq chicken, house-made sausage, spinach, cilantro, red onions, carmelized onions, fresh tomatoes, and of course, all kinds of cheese. The result is a truly inspired, extraordinary, well-crafted perfection. Sure, the price is higher than commonplace pizza joints. However, when you consider that each bite at Goat Mountain is a taste sensation, you realize that the quality here is so far superior to the "cheese bread" pizza you get elsewhere. It might be cheaper, but it is no where near as satisfying.

“Mix and Match Taste Treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Very friendly, efficient staff serving out slices of "nouveau pizza." Lots of arugula, nuts, different (like Stiltion) cheeses, pickled red onion, etc. in evidence. The beauty of the place is that, because the pizza is sold by the pound, you can sample several. We had 5 total (enough to take some home for dinner) and had great fun tasting small pieces of each for lunch.

Great pizza depends on the crust (and everyone has their preference and standard!) and this was very good by my tastes. Especially considering that the slices are warmed up during the lunch bustle, rather than baked anew.

“Pizza by the pound”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Goat Mountain Pizza is in an old building in downtown Bellingham. While there is seating inside, I'd recommend the outdoor tables (if you can go on a day without rain--a rarity in Bellingham).

When we visited, there were four different pizzas available at the counter. You choose which kind you'd like and also how big of a slice you want. One of us chose the carmelized onion and the other two the margherita with fresh tomatoes. Both were delicious. Neither had heavy salt, so maybe the other reviewer visited on an off-day. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and plan to go back next time we're in Bellingham.
