“Cheap, good eats with huge portions!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

That says it all, really. We've been here several times and are never disappointed. If you're looking for fancy sit-down service, don't bother. But if you're craving some good Mexican with not frills, head on over and be blessed by huge portions and good stuff. Local art on the walls (some for sale) makes for a nice hip vibe, as do the locals (college kids mostly) and the ever-changing bulletin board of local music/artsy events. On a sunny day (rare?) be sure to sit outside and enjoy the humanity parading past. A place to back to again and again.

“Great Hipster Joint!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

This place is like a little diamond in the rough. Great food at a great price! You get a lot of food for cheap so go hungry! It's a bit of a hipster joint but don't let that turn you away the food makes up for it! The staff were great when we asked what was the best thing to get. I got the Black Bean SuperCrunch and when it arrived at the table I was blown away as to how big it was! It had some much flavor it reminded me of eating in Mexico at a local hot spot! I also got a Strawberry Margarita and it was pretty good only thing I'd add was more strawberry flavor. All in all a great experience and I will be going back and taking the rest of my family with me!

“Great For What It Is”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Up and down the West Coast there is a category of eating establishment called "Good, Cheap, Mexican." These places are so abundant that they are often taken for granted by natives. Having lived most of my life a long time ago in a part of the US far, far away where these places are scarce to non-existent, I cherish them. And CQP is worth cherishing.

The other reviewer is correct: this is not authentic Mexican -- no mole or Veracruz here. What CQP offers, however, is exactly what you want when you go to a place like this -- huge portions, tasty enough, a some interesting salsa choices you can ladle into eco-friendly bio-degradable containers, a laid back atmosphere and, last but not least, very good value for money.

And hey, if you really want to go down-market, they have Rainer beer in tall cans. Every region of the country has its local bargain-basement lager and Rainer is the Pacific Northwest's contribution to the genre. Turn up your nose if you must, but would you really want to waste a Sam Adams double-chocolate bock washing down a burrito?

As I said. It all fits.

You will not leave hungry. You may leave with leftovers.

“Dependable hang-over food, not great realtively cheap mass of food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

Passing through Bellingham I had to go back to my old stomping grounds. The "house of what's happening". I remember their prices were cheaper 12 years ago, but cost of living went up as expected. We didn't enter the tequila bar, which is great for drinking and watching college hipsters getting loaded on a weekend night. The front half still serves mediocre burritos (the potato burrito is still made with overcooked dried-burned homefries just like I remember this place in 1997). Dependable, cheap hang-over eats. Not good, but certainly not bad and certainly better than the typical places that melt cheese on all their plates. Worth it if you want bulk mediocre eats for $6-8...

“Killer quesadillas and bomb burritos.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2012

This is a funky texmex joint with a killer menu, complete with an extensive salsa bar. Depending on your mood, you can order yourself at the front, or you can have a seat at the bar in the back and order from a table. Either way you will experience the totally chill atmosphere, comprised of brightly painted walls as well as local art and your usual mix of Bellinghammers, who all share a common love for burritos, quesadillas, chips and salsa.
