“Beautiful hotel with wonderful water view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2005

This hotel is definitely a great place to retreat from reality. Beautifully decorated and appointed rooms including sliding glass doors to balcony to view the sunset. Very quiet and serene at this hotel. The restaurant is very good. The hotel is well worth the price for the gorgeous rooms and view of the water.

Rooms are quite attractive with comfortable furniture. Given the gas fireplace and spa bath with folding doors over the tub that open to the main bedroom, seems hotel is geared to romantic getaway. However, it serves many business travelers on weekdays. Great views from hotel. Quiet rooms. Stocked minibar. Free locked parking. Didn't try the restaurant, but did eat some very good meals at other restaurants that were easy walking distance.

Room was excellent- including fireplace. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful-.
Gave a lot of help when I wanted to go for a bike ride.
Good breakfast and spectacular view of the harbor....

My husband and I recently had a very poor experience at the Hotel Bellwether. As a gift, we had received a gift certificate in an amount sufficient to cover our stay at the hotel, yet upon check in, after verifying that our certificate was adequate, we were denied a room due to our inability to present a credit card. We were told that if given a room, we were subject to a room inspection upon departure. This took all the pleasure out of the gift for us, and we would not recommend this hotel to others based on this experience. We are local residents, and we felt annoyed that a business in our county would treat guests in this manner.

We stayed at this hotel on the way from Vancouver to Seattle. Arriving without a reservation, the desk staff were excellent, offering a choice of rooms that they insisted on showing to us at a reasonable rate. If you are looking for a quiet hotel in a lovely location this is for you, overlooking the marina and bay, the position is superb. The hotel restaurant is excellent, the food really good, service good and location again overlooking the bay, loveley. I will definatley stay at this hotel again should I be travelling in the area.

My wife and I spent 6 great nights at the Hotel Bellwether in April. Our room was top notch, very clean, very comfortable bed, nice jetted tub, living room and bedroom, both with great views of the harbor and sunsets. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We very much enjoyed the Bistro resturaunt. The food was great and very well presented by friendly, professional staff. We used room service on four occassions and the food came promptly and still nice and hot, not always the case with room service at other locations we have stayed at.
The location is a good starting spot for exploring the Bellingham area. Fairhaven's many interesting shops are only a short distance away, and you can get to the Canadian Ferry system at Tawassen to go to Vancouver Island, or go to Vancouver in a about an hour, if so inclined. However be careful to get through the customs at the boarder at good times as you can be stuck there for a while at different times of the day.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already made reservations for a return trip to the Bellwether for 7 nights over New Years in December. We highly recommend the Bellwether for a great get away.

Very nice - there aren't a lot of really nice hotels in Bellingham so this is a treat. Dining is very good too.

Watch the frigde tho - twice I pulled out expired Starbucks Coffee (with outdated milk) and it made me feel a bit ill.
