This lovely hotel is located right on the water overlooking a marina. There are several upscale restaurants immediately adjacent to the hotel, but most of the shops in the new buildings in front of it are empty.
We arrived a couple hours before check-in and had to wait for our room. That is understandable, but why do hotels always offer to call your cell phone when the room is ready, then never do it? That is really the only service lapse we experienced and everyone was very friendly, attentive, and beyond helpful.
The food in the restaurant at lunch and breakfast was good and reasonably priced for a hotel. The service was always very friendly, but we waited a very long time for our breakfast (caused by the kitchen, not the waitress). However, our server didn't charge us for our beverages because of the delay and did that without any complaining from us.
I guess the hotel's theme is "Old World". The building doesn't look very old, but the decor does. Some areas are a little frayed around the edges, but overall the hotel is clean and in good repair.
We had a suite and it was enormous. There was a step-down sitting area with a loveseat and reclining chair, plus a gas fireplace. The view over the marina was beautiful. We also had a balcony, but it was too chilly to use it. There was a 36" tube TV in the bedroom and sitting area, which was nice. The bed was extremely comfortable with nice linens. The bathroom was large also with stone floors and walls, a spa tub, and a separate shower. The only complaints I can think of with the bathroom are that the shower was very weak and the lighting is poor (way too bright at the sink and very dark in the rest of the bathroom.) There is a weird window with wooden panels that open to the bedroom we didn't care for, but it isn't a deal breaker.
The wi-fi internet was very fast and was free. Secure free parking is available under the hotel with an elevator directly to the room floors and lobby.
This is a very comfortable hotel in a beautiful location. The price was reasonable for what we got. Apparently breakfast is no longer part of the room rate, but the price was fair and the food good. We would choose this hotel again if we are ever in the area. I doubt there is anything better in an upscale hotel in the city.
