“Creative cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

This was the best meal we had in two weeks of very special eating in the Pacific Northwest. The Fork is worth the drive a little outside Bellingham--we stopped (you can also call ahead if you don't want to wait) and made a reservation for an hour and a half later. That gave us time to do a little hiking along the north shore of the spectacular Lake Whatcom. The decor at Fork is simple and elegant, not pretentious in any way. They concentrate on their cooking! It's so imaginative. Everything is local, sustainable, healthy, and delicious. I had a pasta dish with pappardelle, fiddleheads (the tender small ends of the gorgeous ferns that grow all over the area), mascarpone with a hint of lemon (but not sweet), gourmet mushrooms and other interesting veggies. They feature local wines, which are very pleasing. (But you can get some non-Washington state vintages as well.) While you're on the north shore of Lake Whatcom, check out the Mount Baker Winery as a prelude, just a short drive from the Fork. All in all, a great afternoon!

“A Gem in Bellingham”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

Don't ever think just big cities have great food. This place is a gem in a very scenic part of Bellingham.
Right up there with either Vancouver or Seattle. The portobello sandwich and burger were outstanding
and the halibut saltimboca was outrageous. Great wine list too. Well worth the 20 minute drive around
Lake Whatcom.

“Great Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

We often meet friends at the Fork at Agate Bay for a relaxing and friendly meal. It's a little off the beaten track for travelers passing through town but the local's love it. Great upscale menu and great wine selection.

“Not your standard fare”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The Fork has two very nice qualities; small, intimate atmosphere, and good food. It is a bit of a drive to get there, but quite scenic. The shrimp and grits is my favorite dish and never disappoints. They have a small but excellent wine list and some great tasting beers on tap. We recently went there with some friends and everyone enjoyed their entree. They have a good selection of "Firebread"pizzas.. Very tasty.
One recommendation for the restaurant would be to change out their entree menu at least every six months or so. Frequent diners would probably enjoy some new taste sensations, like a seared duck breast with a "to die for"sauce!!
It is a small establishment and sometimes it appears there is not enough wait staff to cover, but they do seem to try to do their best. I would go for the shrimp and grits if everything else was lackluster!
