“Not authentic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2014

We may be biased, especially it is because we visited from Asia, where we have been spoiled by some genuine and authentic sushi restaurants. So, we did not find this one impressive or delicious. Sorry!

“Waited a year for this”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

We have been trying to get to this restaurant for a year, as it was highly recommended, but was never open on the days we came by. Waiting for 20 minutes for a seat, gave us time to notice things like; how big the space was and how disorganized and sparse the seating is. For a busy place there is a lot of wasted space and that just seems dumb!
The crowd was generally 20-35ish and everyone seemed to be happy to wait for a seat and were enjoying the food. The food was served on one of those moving rotating belts, you grab what you want (as the Chefs prepare the food behind in a huge open kitchen) they are replaced as quickly as they are taken, so then the plates are added up by color and that would be your total for the bill.
When we finally got to our table, even though we had watched the girls clean the table off they were still not clean, the chairs were not clean and they had two big tubs on the table which contained the communal wasabi and ginger_um_ewww!
As I was looking at the food on the belt pass by my friend was looking at the menu which unfortunately ruined her appetite as it was caked with food and looked unacceptably unclean!
I had already taken one thing off the belt and started eating (my friend would not) a California Roll, it wasn’t bad, nothing memorable and tasted fresh enough, but unfortunately the whole thing was spoiled by the general uncleanliness, we left rather fast after that.

Restaurant take note: It is so easy to become ill when eating out these days, for a number of reasons, it may not be just the cuisine. General cleanliness is a standard must in the kitchen but as well in the serving area of you establishment.

“Such a fun place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

Love to go and pick which plate to chose as they pass on the conveyer belt. If you go later in the evening there isn't as much selection so try to get there early enough. They will custom make an order for you. Always a good time and enjoyable meal

“Belt Sushi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

This is my second review of Kuru Kuru Sushi in Bellingham, WA. We love the family attention and great service and attention by the owners, who are both active in the business. This belt style sushi restaurant is in a great location and has some wonderful rolls that are not mentioned on the menu. Try the stuffed jalapeno roll which is a half jalapeno pepper, deseeded and filled with a crab filling and lightly tempura battered and then lightly fried to cook the pepper a little. Not super spicy but super delicious. Remember don't just settle for what you see. Ask them and they will make you just about anything.

“Fun Dining But Not The Best Sushi”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

We stumbled across this restaurant after a long flight home from Maui. The service was prompt, but the servers (only 2) were very short staffed. The restaurant was full of tables that needed to be cleaned. We eat a lot of Japanese cuisine, but didn't touch the nigri or sushi, it was on the smaller side, and did not look fresh. As another reviewer notes, lots of creamy sauces on the rolls, and most were deep fried. Fun for a date night, or for children. For quality, look elsewhere.
