“Nice Hotel, but poor sound insulation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Pros:
- Convenient location
- Clean, nicely furnished rooms
- Very comfortable queen size beds
- Soft and firm pillow choices for each bed
- Down duvets
- Light blocking drapes plus sheers
- Windows that open with screens
- Strong water pressure in shower
- Continental breakfast included - gluten-free options: bananas, oranges, apples, hard-boiled, cold eggs, yoghurt, milk, juices, coffee
- Friendly staff
- A/C in room

Cons:
- Poor sound insulation - We stayed up late packing so that we could sleep in this morning, but the person in the room above us got up at 6 am, and I heard every step. The vibrations traveled down the walls, they creaked, something in our room vibrated - lamp shades? I couldn't quite figure out what I was hearing, but it made enough noise to keep me awake, cutting my night short by 2 hours. In the evening we heard a fellow in the next room singing (in the shower?). Not loudly, but it carried through the wall clearly. We also heard the TV from the room on the other side. Luckily, we could open the window, so the road noise covered those noises.
- Room doors are on strong hinges which slam doors loudly unless you catch them. They woke me up.
- The fan cycle kept waking me and blows air directly over the beds.
- Lots of road noise

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floor.

Dear Fraumutter,

We really appreciate you taking some time out of your day to review our hotel. I am happy to see that our breakfast and staff among some of our hotel feature made your trip enjoyable. I am sad, however, to see that noise from other rooms affected your sleep and stay. We do take reviews like your very seriously and I will work with my maintenance staff to do what we can do minimize noise. With our doors we must make sure they shut completely for guest safety ,but we can look into any way we can make that safety process quieter.

Reviews like yours help us continue to get better and better. We hope to see you on your next trip to Bellingham.

Thank you,

Jason Grover

I recently stayed here for a weekend. The service was excellent and the beds and pillows were the best. The free buffet breakfast was a nice addition, but wasnt anything fancy. I recommend a room on the first floor.

Family stayed overnight to simplify morning connection out of Bellingham International. The hotel is clean and has all the amenities (great breakfast). The staff are efficient and polite and the location is perfect for access to evening shopping (family includes shoppers} and the airport. I will certainly stay there again.

We stayed here as a family and very much enjoyed the comfort, the great breakfasts, and the wonderful service from the staff. It is a bit out of town, but not far from the airport, and we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: 3rd floor especially.

We have stayed at this property each time we have to be in Bellingham. It is very clean and consistent in terms of quality, affordability, and service. Long term staff is a fine example of good leadership and care for the property. The pool and hottub are warm and clean. Laundry facilities could be improved by adding a second set of machines. The location is perfect for shopping at Costco, Macy's, and other area stores. Always a pleasure to deal with the staff at this location, everyone is friendly and professional.

Room Tip: Booking a suite ensures extra space and a microwave and fridge.

If you are looking for good value on a basic room, well-located, and clean, look no further. The room and amenities are not "tired" as you see in many hotels in this price range. Rooms have microwaves, small fridges, and flat screen TVs. There is a small pool and hot tub. They have fresh cookies in the afternoon. We were up too early to enjoy the free hot breakfast but did find the airport transfer very efficient and convenient. Lots of food and entertainment options nearby. Very comfy beds with choice of pillow and it was quiet.

Business traveler. Hotel was very clean. Only dislike was a small table and chairs in the room instead of a desk. That might work out fine for leisure travelers. Very friendly front desk. Large flat screen TV. Above average breakfast for this chain. Would stay here again.
