“Enjoyed our Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We had a pleasant stay. The room was affordable and clean. The staff was excellent. We had to leave very early in the morning to catch a flight before their coffee and breakfast time. In the morning before we left we received a phone call letting us know that coffee and breakfast had been set up early for us. Very impressed. I recommend this Inn.

There are three buildings and we stayed on the second floor of the middle building as it was non smoking. The room is very basic with a bed, lamp, bathroom ,etc. and it was clean. Everything worked in the room. The breakfast was okay with the usual fare offered by most hotels. There are only three tables for breakfast so you have to be there at the right time or you have to eat at another location. The manager was very friendly and even offered to carry a suitcase up the stairs to the second floor. Check in and check out worked well. We entered Bellingham from the South so did not realize the Coachman is right on the I-5 so there is considerable traffic noise. There are numerous restaurants in the area and access to them is easy.

I understand that this is an older, cheaper hotel, but I didn't find it to be very clean or worth the money. It was also very loud! I was told that they had a quieter area on one side of one of their buildings we could stay in but since the hotel is situated between a freeway and a highway how can they say it's a quiet area!? The daytime manager was nice but the nighttime manager was curt and very hard to understand. The beds were very uncomfortable.

Room Tip: I really don't recommend this hotel

We stayed at the Coachman for two nights recently. Overall it was a basic and affordable stay. Coachman Inn is located in a very convenient location. It's close to Bellis Fair and about 20 minutes away from Burlington Outlet and 30 minutes from Seattle Premium Outlet. There are many local restaurants across the street from the Inn (Thai, Mexican, Japanese, fast food chain, etc.), which give you the convenience of not having to get into your car again after a long day trip. As others have mentioned, the Inn was clean and quiet, staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was included. Breakfast included the common items such as, coffee, tea, milk, juice, bagels, croissants, oatmeal, cereal, eggs, and fruit. It saved us $20 driving down the road to Denny's. We got an awesome deal from Priceline so really can't complain much. The only things that would deter us from coming back is the extremely loud A/C unit in the room and the almost flat pillows.

Pros: excellent location, clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, good value, complimentary breakfast

Cons: extremely loud A/C unit & flat pillows, which affects sleep quality

Rated number one in Bellingham and am not sure how it gained such a rating. It is an older property that has had some paint added, roofing on the exterior stairway with roofing nails as stair treads, microwave shared in the hallway on each floor mounted on a vintage metal typewriter stand with fold up wings (as was our floor), when went down for breakfast and met by the desk clerk with feet up on counter working on his computer, asked about decaf coffee when none was present remarked that "Oh, Yeh, will have to make some", said don't bother, etc, etc. Room did appear clean with no resident smell, and linens were clean, price was the least in town at $60 per night base, plus tax. Our king size bed room was crowded and could not move the desk chair out to view the TV. Must be the price that makes it #1 in B'ham, certainly not my vote!

Room Tip: Think if over and review other properties, if it is for the purpose of saving $$, have at it, we wil...

We had a flight out of Bellingham the following morning, and on our way down from Canada our car broke down. We ditched our car and took a cab from Delta to the border, and another cab to the Coachman. It was a late check-in, but the gentleman at the desk was very kind. He knew we had an early flight the next morning, and told us he'd have coffee and breakfast ready for us at 5am. He called our room the next morning to make sure we were up, and offered to call a cab for us. When he heard our story of the previous nights ordeal he said we should have just called the motel and he would have driven up to Delta to pick us up. I don't think he was joking either.

I recommend the Coachman to anyone. You really would have a hard time finding kinder folks. The room was clean and comfortable, the coffee was hot and on early as promised. The continental style breakfast was good too. Nothing was fancy, but the value was still through the roof. Stay and you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Just talk to the staff, anything you need they'll make it happen.

My first stay here and I will be back. Nothing overly fancy, just the basics (appreciated the Wifi and the breakfast items in the lobby). The room was clean and location was ideal for getting around Bellingham. Great value and pleasant staff.
