“Spoils You For Other Steakhouses”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

After you have steak here it's difficult to eat it elsewhere because the quality is so high you get spoiled.

There is a great deal of attention to detail at John Howie. The physical space is quite lovely. Simple, elegant lines, a great wall of windows. The service is impeccable from the moment you're seated until you leave. We've gone with our kids and also just as a couple's night out and we always get great service. The waitstaff know their business - they know the menu, they're attentive without being obsequious. The bar is amazing, the kitchen is outstanding from appetizers to dessert. It's not a cheap dinner, I will say that, but I never feel like I didn't get my money's worth either.

Love their wedge salad as an appetizer and my husband loves the soups and the tempura bacon. The steaks are all quite good - like cow butter, smooth, just the right amount of fat, cooked to perfection. The sides are varied, but you really can't go wrong with asparagus or spinach. I've never gotten anything but steak there as it's what they do, so I can't speak to their other items, but my daughter loves the fish.

Any trip to John Howie is a top button undone sort of evening. It's one of our favorite special occasion places.

“Attention to detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Took our friend to dinner for her 70th birthday. The attention to detail and the care we were shown was excellent. Steaks were prepared perfectly after getting menu advice on this restaurant's version of rare, medium etc. If you are going to spend this much on a meal be sure to use the valet parking and give the valets a tip on top of the seven dollar fee.

“Seriously good steak and lovely service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

there are A LOT of nice steakhouses in Bellevue and Seattle but this is hands down my favorite. The service is old school elegant yet warm and friendly. The food is perfection, from the wilted spinach salad made table side (YUM) to the steaks (perfection) to the cocktails. A great choice every time.

“My raviolis weren't cooked - seriously”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

This restaurant is just about spending money. Atmosphere is lovely but the food was just okay for excessive prices. I don't eat meat and don't expect a great meal at a steak house. But i've never ordered raviolis which with dough that is not cooked. I don't mean al dente. They were actually raw dough.

Silly place. Fine if someone else with money to burn is paying.

“One of My Best Meals Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

If you are in Bellevue, do not miss this restaurant. It is pricey and you'll drop at least $150 per person, but the food is absolutely outstanding. Skip the wagyu beef offerings - the USDA prime is equally as good. Must tried the fried bacon. The somalier looks like Bradley Cooper and lingers a bit too long so make your wine choice speedily. Other than that, outstanding service, food and a great view out the windows.
