“Very noisy hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2010

I've stayed at the Embassy Suites in Bellevue twice now. With a small infant, we prefer to have a suite when we travel, and affordable suites are easier to find in Bellevue than in downtown Seattle.

The location of this hotel is convenient if you don't mind driving into downtown. It's about a 15-minute drive into Seattle on I-90 in good traffic (up to an hour in rush hour traffic). The hotel is easily accessible & visible from the interstate. It's in an area full of office parks; there aren't many restaurants around, and the few there aren't open late (even the Subway was closed at 9:30 p.m. on a Saturday night when we wanted a snack as we arrived).

My main complaint about this hotel is the noise. The hotel is one of those classic 80s constructions, with all the rooms facing out onto an atrium inside the hotel. The hotel seems to make most of its money from small local businesses or associations having parties and staying overnight, and groups of teenagers travelling or having events at the hotel (we saw both each time we stayed at the hotel). These parties seem always to have a DJ and the doors from the ballrooms into the atrium are left open all night, so all the rooms in the hotel are treated to loud music echoing through the atrium. The hotel staff does not require this music to be shut off until midnight or later. In the morning, breakfast is in the atrium, so there is a lot of noise from conversation and teens running around, not to mention people in the breakfast area shouting up to their friends on various levels of the hotel around the atrium.

Fortunately the bedrooms in the suites all face on the outside, so noise from the atrium is minimal there. But for anyone trying to sleep on the sofa, it's a long night and an early morning, since all of the noise can be plainly heard in the sitting room.

Except for the noise, the accommodations and amenities are fine -- average for this level of hotel -- with the exception of the internet connection, which is available only for a fee. The free breakfast, with made-to-order omelets, is decent, but involves a large time commitment given the long line.

There's a Silver Cloud Inn nearby where we've also stayed; they offer suites for about the same price. The suites are just as nice, the internet is free, and the rooms are much quieter as they're off a hall. It also seems to attract far fewer large groups of revelers. No omelets for breakfast (just make-your-own waffles), but breakfast is much quieter and faster. Having stayed in both a couple of times, we've decided that the Silver Cloud will be our regular hotel while in Seattle, as it's much more hospitable for a family with small children sleeping in the suite's sitting room.

This hotel was like a getaway for my family, because it's thanksgiving weekend in canada. When you go in the hotel, its was very dim. In the main auditorium it was very bright, but in the day time, but in the night its is dim like the lobby.

The rooms were just like a five star room they were clean and crisp, with a hint of like the forest. My kids were upset because there was no disney channel, but we could stay without that...

The food at the hotel was very nice, we haven't tried the bar yet. But do not try the manager's reception. It HARDLY has any food, its just trail mix and veggies. Its just for guys watching football. Now, the breakfast was the best thing there, they have fresh hot chocolate and apparently, you can can pick toppings and the hotel's chef will make you your custom made omelet. As usual, they also have the same stuff as what the hilton family has, but they have more then that!

Their pool was ok, the leisure pool was kind of dirty and rusted, it even had band aids in it, but it didn't effect the water. My kids never minded anything. The whirpool was relaxing and felt like a spa, the very irratating thing was I had to keep standing up to turn the dial to make the jets run. I would just add a switch instead of a timer...

Well everything was nice at this hotel. Hope you enjoy your stay...

I stayed at the Embassy Suites Seattle-Bellevue earlier this year for a short business conference. My one-night stay was quite comfortable and the room was much larger than I had expected. This was my first visit to and Embassy Suites so I was unsure of what to expect.

The evening reception consisted of inexpensive beer, wine and liquor served with a limited selection of inexpensive snack items, such as potato and tortilla chips, pub cracker mix, dips and a vegetable platter. I have stayed at other suite style hotels in the past where the evening reception was closer to a light buffet dinner where you could actually make a meal out of the food at the reception. This “evening snack” couldn’t compare to a light meal. I’m glad that our conference group had scheduled a group dinner that evening because the reception food and drink wasn’t going to do the trick.

The restaurant in the Embassy Suites was where our group had dinner. The food was quite good, but the prices were not deserved for what was actually served. For $25+/plate, I would expect food that had a little more hand preparation and fresher, lighter flavors. The restaurant indicated that they served “northwest cuisine”, however that must have been a euphemism for overpriced main dishes made primarily with seafood of frozen origin.

I slept well that night, which is rare the first night in any location for me. The bed was decent and linens were high quality. The room itself suffered what most hotel rooms do, a little too much customer wear and tear that can’t be addressed every year because it would be too expensive to do so. I had no issues with the climate control and was able to bring the room to a comfortable temperature. However the outside window to the room had definitely been used hard over the years. The lock was broken and a little wind made it howl ever so slightly. New windows are a definite must for the next building remodel.

The center atrium with the waterfalls and artificial river running through it is a nice touch. Every time you would open your door you would hear the sound of running water. The fitness room and pool/hot tub area seems to have been recently renovated. It appeared immaculately clean and well cared for. The fitness equipment is gym or health club grade and there are enough duplicate machines that you can generally do the workout you want without waiting or compromise.

The morning hot breakfast was better than average. The food quality was at least as good as a Denny’s or Shari’s. There were no holding temperature issues with the food they offered. They were making “omelets”, however I passed as the other food items appeared nicer than the completed “omelet” product. Coffee, milk, pop were in plentiful supply. The dining area was busy, but not overly crowded. Hotel staff actively bussed abandoned tables and the buffet lines were always undergoing replenishment.

The Embassy Suites Seattle-Bellevue is a fairly nice facility with well kept, if not slightly worn rooms and the typical amenities usually offered at suite style locations. The evening reception is nice if you want an inexpensive drink for free at the end of your evening, but not as a dinner replacement. The morning reception has decent food, and since it is included in the cost, why go out to breakfast? Price is important, and as such this facility would need to provide a more impressive evening reception and a plated breakfast for it to justify the price it charged for my stay there.

This was my first time to the Embassy Suites Hotel in Bellevue (Seattle). There was a large selection of items at the free breakfast and the managers reception at night. The rooms were clean and fully stocked. No complaints at all. I would highly recommend this hotel and I look forward to staying there again someday.

Beautiful, clean rooms, very comfortable bed and pillows, which is rare in a hotel today. The complimentary breakfast was better than I have had in a restraunt! The evening drinks and snacks were great also. So much value for your money and very kid friendly. Great staff!

Great location and nice facilities. There is a Starbucks and a 7-Eleven close by. Right off the free way, and an easy drive to Seattle.
