“Clean, courteous and cheap”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

I chose Budget Host Inn because of TripAdvisor reviews. I gave this a 5 star because we needed an inexpensive, clean and safe place to stay overnight on our trip to Myrtle Beach and that is exactly what we got. From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but the very friendly owner obviously takes a lot of pride in his property and wants to be sure his guests are taken care of. The room was not the most modern, but it was immaculate. We were able to back the car right up to our room for easy unpacking (much appreciated with an infant). Everyone slept well and the next morning when we went to check out, the owner was back in the office with a nice little (free) breakfast spread of pastries, coffee, tea, juice ,etc.

Room Tip: The ground floor makes an overnight stay much easier.

The owner was on the premises when I arrived, which was a good sign. As other reviews have indicated, this place is right out of the 60s, but very clean. the rooms are pretty spacious, and my bed was in good shape. There are security cameras all over and the front desk can see the exterior all around the building. I thought the coffee offered in the morning at the front desk was fine and the pastries were fresh. For about $60 including tax, it worked for a quick stop over while on the road. Oh, and the nearby gas station had gas 40 cents a gallon cheaper than at home. Wh pay for amenities that won't be used?

Without Tripadvisor, the outside appearances would have put me off. It doesn't look good from the outside and is a bit off the beaten path. But due to the reviews here I gave it a chance. Sure it's from the sixties but almost immaculate. Everything works and the proprietor is as polite and helpful as can be, the price is right and the continental breakfast is surprisingly good. If you want a clean and perfectly fine place to stay for one third to one half the price of a chain, this is it.

We stayed here on our way to South Carolina. We checked in very late which wasn't a problem. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Perfectly place to get some much needed rest before our long drive the next day. We would definitely stay here again.

Looks like the owner has spent his money on providing a great value, rather than marketing. Can't add much to all the other reviews. We stay at Wytheville when travelling between Ohio and Florida and have paid much more for a newer room that didn't offer any more than this place. It may be vintage in appearance, but everything worked well. I've paid twice this much for chain hotels with weak water pressure or ice machines that don't work. It was also the quietest room I've stayed in in decades.

Unless HBO, PPV or a hot continental breakfast is worth an extra $30-$40 to you, there is absolutely no reason not to stay here. A great opportunity to support small business AND get a great value.

We checked in after midnight on our way to Charleston, SC. Wytheville was our half-way point. The front desk was extremely pleasant and nice. Although the motel is a little outdated it was EXTREMELY CLEAN, smelled fresh, and was quiet. You can not go wrong for the price. It was perfect for a night sleep and a shower in the morning. Would definitely stay here again when travelling south.

Arrived at the hotel at 3:00 AM on the way to Orlando. Check-in was easy and quick, and gentleman at front desk was friendly and efficient.

Room was EXTREMELY CLEAN, and warm and toasty (despite being really cold outside). My wife, son, and I slept in until 9:00 AM the next morning and were not woken up by housekeeping or other guests, despite the hotel being full. What more do you want for an overnight stay?

In the morning, hot water was plentiful and pressure was excellent. Exactly what you want and expect when you wake up.

The property is old but the owner takes a LOT of pride in it.

We plan on making this a yearly stop on our way to Florida. Don't let the low price sway you elsewhere.

This is a MUST stay.
