We stopped at the Electric Palm for a quick lunch while enroute on 95. We sort of stumbled upon it and decided it would work for a quick lunch.
As others have described, the main draw of this place is that it is on the water, right at a boat marina, so it draws a lot of boating patrons. We chose to sit upstairs because it had a better view and was (supposed to be) non smoking. This place seems like it has a bit of an identity crisis, as it is obviously a "dive bar", but then has a fancy-ish indoor dining area. But the menu is more bar food, with burgers and such.
Service was a bit on the slow side, and when our food finally showed up, my sweet potato fries and my husbands onion rings were cold. My husband also ordered the fried egg on his sandwich and it was overcooked. The waitress did bring us replacement fries and rings, but I was almost done with my sandwich when they came.
I was also surprised that people on the upstairs patio were smoking, and there were even ashtrays on the table with signs posted everywhere that it was the non smoking session. I even heard a patron ask a server if it was ok to smoke and she said it was fine, that the non smoking signs were just there because they were required! We asked him to put out his cigarette while we ate and he kindly complied.
The downstairs area was the biker bar section and was much rowdier than upstairs. That is not the family section.
So overall, this place is just ok in my opinion. Better than McD for a lunch on the road, but not a spot I would seek out if I lived in the area.
