We had a GroupOn deal (had previously dined here in 2008 when my daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner was held here by her in-laws). I recalled the place was pretty good, so we gave it a try. We arrived shortly before our reservation time on a Thursday night and we were seated promptly. Our server, Althea, came right away to bring water and also arrived quickly to take our orders and bring us warm bread with homemade sweet butter.
DH and dd shared the grilled romaine salad. Both found it excellent. DH also had a cup of the black bean/cilantro soup and loved it. I had a petite salad which was a variety of greens, purple onion, carrots, and grape tomatoes with homemade ranch dressing, very tasty. For entrees, both dh and dd had the filet mignon with grits and asparagus. I had the crab cakes with garlic mashed potatoes and broccolini. We shared around the table and we all found everything delicious. Steaks were ordered medium and were perfectly done, well-seared on the outside, very tasty. Crab cakes weren't the best I've ever had, but they were good. We brought home a slice of devil's food cake which dd reports was very good as well.
Our service was spot-on, appropriately attentive. If you make a reservation, ask to be in Althea's section.
We found the prices very reasonable for such good food and good service, certainly better and cheaper than the chain restaurants in Woodbridge. Had we not had the GroupOn deal, our total bill with tax would have been $76.78, not bad for three adults who ordered extras in addition to entrées. (We didn't order drinks, only water.). Throw in a $15 tip and that's pretty affordable for a fine meal in this area. So grateful not to have to trudge into the city or over to an expensive chain with lesser food (and those places are always so dirty; Osprey's is very clean).
