“Fine experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

We had a GroupOn deal (had previously dined here in 2008 when my daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner was held here by her in-laws). I recalled the place was pretty good, so we gave it a try. We arrived shortly before our reservation time on a Thursday night and we were seated promptly. Our server, Althea, came right away to bring water and also arrived quickly to take our orders and bring us warm bread with homemade sweet butter.

DH and dd shared the grilled romaine salad. Both found it excellent. DH also had a cup of the black bean/cilantro soup and loved it. I had a petite salad which was a variety of greens, purple onion, carrots, and grape tomatoes with homemade ranch dressing, very tasty. For entrees, both dh and dd had the filet mignon with grits and asparagus. I had the crab cakes with garlic mashed potatoes and broccolini. We shared around the table and we all found everything delicious. Steaks were ordered medium and were perfectly done, well-seared on the outside, very tasty. Crab cakes weren't the best I've ever had, but they were good. We brought home a slice of devil's food cake which dd reports was very good as well.

Our service was spot-on, appropriately attentive. If you make a reservation, ask to be in Althea's section.

We found the prices very reasonable for such good food and good service, certainly better and cheaper than the chain restaurants in Woodbridge. Had we not had the GroupOn deal, our total bill with tax would have been $76.78, not bad for three adults who ordered extras in addition to entrées. (We didn't order drinks, only water.). Throw in a $15 tip and that's pretty affordable for a fine meal in this area. So grateful not to have to trudge into the city or over to an expensive chain with lesser food (and those places are always so dirty; Osprey's is very clean).

“Stick with the sandwiches or burgers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Having gone a few times, we think as long as you order a sandwich (particularly the Cuban), you more than get your money's worth. Soups are also good. But if you go for a full meal, only fair in terms of quality and price. The service is always pleasant as is the scenary. I am told that the Sunday Brunch is outstanding and will give it a try.

“Pleasant Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

We had a Groupon but my expectations were low based on the previous reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. From 5-8 there are buy 1 appetizer get 1 free, plus great drink specials.

The Angus sliders were excellent and the asparagus appetizer was good. The dinner salads are large - you can get a side salad too. My wife and I both had the Hangar steak. Both were cooked perfectly. It came with some autumn (root) vegetables which were very good and garlic mashed potatoes - Excellent steak. The mashed potatoes were just OK. Chocolate mousse was very good. Coffee below average.

Service was excellent. The manager came over a couple of times to fill-in while the server was busy. Let us try the grits (very good cheesy) and gave us menu suggestions. Very attentive and personable.

The dining room is a little bit on the loud side due to how open it is. The gas fireplace wasn't working but that would have added to the ambience.

We will definitely come back again! Overall very good. Great food and service.

“Great Food; Great Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

This restaurant is in the clubhouse of the golf course, and would be hard to find without GPS, especially at night, since there are no lights or signage. The menu is fairly ambitious, with items such as roasted skirt steak and asparagus frites. Desserts included baby brie with dried fruits and homemade ice cream. The sevice was a bit harried, but the place was full. The price points were very reasonable. We'll certainly go again.

“Still a disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

This restaurants re-opened a couple of years ago. We who live in Belmont Bay were delighted to have at least one place to eat. The gratitude soon turned to abject disappointment. The menu was far too grandiloquent and the service was a disaster. We have tried the place three times since. The menu has improved. However, the service is just as bad if not worse.
