“A neighborhood favorite with Old World charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Bistro L'Hermitage seems to appear out of nowhere in the Occoquan/Woodbridge landscape. It is a separate building with parking that houses a bustling, energetic restaurant that veritably oozes with European charm. The host is amiable, the seating somewhat tight, but cozy. Best of all, everyone seems to be having a good time. The trout amondine with mashed potatoes and spinach was well prepared and tasty. The salade verte, large. The desserts did not disappoint: chocolate lava cake, crepes, mousse au chocolat. All in all, it was an enjoyable time, fitting for a special occasion or the opportunity to make it a special occasion!

“Disappointed dining”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

After hearing rave reviews, dining was VERY disappointing. Restaurant is crowded with little room between tables. If you like a spacious dining room with overhead room this is not the place for you. Low ceilings add to the high noise level. Don't order a cocktail and sitck with a beverage poured from a bottle. Mixed drinks way over priced and watered down. Service is spotty, but it appeared that those sitting at the bar had continuous attention. Our table ordered different foods to come out at various times, but the wait staff only got part of this service right. Too much time between courses and then a rush to put out all the food at once. The menu is expensive but the service did not match this cost level. Would not recommend dining at this price.

“Never disappoints!”

This is our "go to" restaurant for family events. The wait staff is attentive without being a nuisance. Always great service and outstanding food and atmosphere!

“Nice Surprise in Occoquan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

My husband and I enjoyed a anniversary dinner last month--our first time here. We were greeted immediately and our waiter was very attentive. It was in early December so business was somewhat slow on a Thursday, which gave us even more attentive service I suppose. I enjoyed the salad with beets (although when first presented the beets were missing but the waiter immediately fixed this for me and apologized.) My husband enjoyed the lobster bisque--was thinner than some, but tasty. I enjoyed the monkfish although it was a tad overcooked but sauced well. My husband had scallops which were sweet. Could have been browned more. The bread was great and the desserts were terrific--great creme brulee. Wine was quite pricy but good selections. Overall a romatic environment perfect for anniversary or special dinners. We'll go back.

“Never disappointing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Stopped by the other night for about the fifth time, I should have reviewed the place before. Definitely the best full service sit down restaurant in Woodbridge/Occoquan. There are minor nits: I prefer escargot in the shell, my tuna entree was a little light on the tuna (in contrast to my wife, who ordered the salmon and seemed to have gotten an immense slab). Although I would have liked more tuna, what I had was perfectly cooked (medium-rare) and very tasty. Not really a five rating, would place it about 4.6, but leaves most of the chain restaurant competition in the area in the dust.
