“What a wonderful hotel!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2007

We just got back from staying in Williamsburg for 4 nights. This hotel is the best for all the amenities and location. We've stayed at other hotels in Williamsburg and by far this one is a keeper for future visits. It's clean, modern, the staff is extremely helpful, they know who you are, and treat you like family. The breakfast is free and excellent. And if you can't stay for breakfast - they have take-a-long bags for on the road - also free. Plus 24-hour fresh brewed coffee in the lobby as well.

The room - ($98 avg w/AAA discount), Queen Suite will spoil you to death with its size and the peace and quiet it provides. We never heard another guest once the door closed. The room is clean, includes a free safe for valuables and the bathroom and wetbar tops are granite - high class for sure. The pillows are down, the comforter is fluffy and you can control the room temperature with a thermostat. No cheesy dials on the a/c unit at this hotel. They have computer access in the room, a work desk, as well as computers and printers off the lobby. We also had a sofa and comfy chair and ottoman to rest our feet on. You can't beat this hotel for the price, location, and most of all the feeling of home that they provide.

The pool was a pleasure to return to from a long day of walking as was the whirlpool. They provide towels for you right at the pool area.

If it wasn't so hot, we could have walked to Colonial Williamsburg with no problem so the location is great - and if you are traveling with pets - even though they don't take them - there's a great place to board them just minutes away.

We will definitely be back. Kudo's to the Hampton Inn

Only in town for one night on this trip and after reading reviews picked this Hampton Inn. Great decision, room was clean, bathroom clean and very large. Main door shuts a little too hard, but overall very quiet. Shower head a little too high and although bedding was great still wish I had brought my own pillows. Not much on motel breakfasts, so passed and went to Mama Steves..hhmmm yummy!! Great stay.

Stayed at Hampton Inn on Capitol Landing Drive for 3 nights in late August 07. Hotel was full all 3 nights.. The hotel itself is away from the hustle/bustle section of Williamsburg, which was very nice.. However, the layout of the hotel results in each room having a door to the adjacent 2 room suite. And noise comes through those doors loud & clear. Even when the room occupants are not particularly noisy, you clearly know there are people in the adjacent room. We were next to a suite of people that routinely were up until 1:30-2:30 AM. Additionally, the A/C fan was very quiet and did not mask the sounds when they were up.

Breakfast was pretty good.. Ask the desk clerks when breakfast gets busy & arrive 15 minutes before it does.

There are 2 adjacent local AAA motels with outdoor pools & that are a fraction of the cost.. We kicked ourselves for not investigating them.

  • Liked — Location was nice.. treed street.. not all concrete
  • Disliked — Tweens in business center playing video games until all hours.

I traveled for our first ever trip to Colonial Williamsburg with my 15 year old daughter, 13 year old son and his 11 year old friend. After reading the reviews on this website, I choose Hampton Inn and Suites and I am glad I did. The hotel is situated in a great location to go to Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens and Jamestown (all things we did during our 3 night stay.)

It was easy to find the hotel. The check in staff were very friendly. When we arrived at 3 pm our room was not ready, but they gave us a 10% off voucher for Sal's Italian Resturant, a 3 min. walk from the hotel and the food there was very good. They held our luggage for us and by the time we returned the room was ready. The housekeeping staff did a great job keeping the room clean and when I asked the front desk for soft pillows and another time for extra towels, both came within 10 minutes.

The room was small - we did not have the suite rooms which are larger. But it was adaquate for us as we spent most of our time out and about, but while in the hotel the kids enjoyed the pool/jacuzzi area. The room was clean, the beds very comfortable, the bath large. The wireless in the room was a great plus. The water is very hard, so soap does not wash off of you very well! We had a mini-fridge which was nice. There were no robes in the room, but had iron/hair dryer/coffee pot and bath amenities were nice.

I enjoyed the gym area which had a treadmill, a bike, an elliptical and a workout weight machine with a TV in the room. There were towels and a water fountain. Even though it was closed to anyone under 18, twice there were kids using the machines. The area overlooks the pool area so I was able to keep an eye on my kids while I worked out. The pool area had towels as well, but they were small towels!

I would definitely stay here again. Two of my favorite things about this property were the hot breakfast in the am with coffee/tea available all day. And having a coin laundry on the 2nd floor. Very handy when traveling with 3 kids!

We had dinner one night at Peking Resturant. This is a buffet with Chinese, Japanese and Mongolian food all for $10.99 per person. Very reasonable and good.

  • Liked — Hot breakfast and coin laundry
  • Disliked — Very small room and no robes plus very hard water.

My husband and I took our two-year-old son on our first ever family vacation. After researching the reviews on Tripadvisor, we selected this hotel because of the high ratings and because it had king nonsmoking studio suites available. What a great choice! It was in an ideal location...close to everything, but still situated on a quiet street. We loved the comfortable bed, and our son loved playing with all the pillows! The room was very clean, attractive and spacious. We especially liked the wet bar with bar sink, mini fridge and microwave. This type of room is very practical for families with small children. The free breakfast was nice as well, though we did go to the Gazebo pancake restaurant on Bypass Road one morning (also highly recommended!) We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. The entire property was well kept, and check-in/check-out was a breeze. There was only one small issue (it wasn't a big issue for us, but may be for some other travelers). Housekeeping wasn't quite as timely as it could have been. We left the room early Saturday morning to tour the historic area. When we returned to our room around noon, the used towels and the trash had been taken away, but the bed wasn't made yet and no fresh towels had been brought in. It appeared that there was just one housekeeper working on our floor, giving us the idea that perhaps someone had called out sick. It was time for our son's nap, so we didn't want to have them working in our room. I just asked for some fresh towels, soaps and trash can liners, and that was that. The housekeeper was very nice and extremely apologetic. So overall, this didn't change our opinion of this hotel. We had a great vacation and we highly recommend the Hampton Inn and Suites Williamsburg Historic District!

We stayed in a King Junior Suite for 6 nights. Very close to Colonial Williamsburg, easy drive to all the other attractions in the area. Room and bath were clean, nicely decorated. The pool is rather small, and you can't really swim if there happen to be unsupervised children jumping in all the time.

Pros:
Wet bar with refrigerator & microwave, very handy.
Vanity area separate from toilet/shower
Sofa for relaxing
Free internet access
Free breakfast: the warm selection was sketchy on some days, but there were enough "cold" items to make up for it. The breakfast crew was really friendly!
24 hour "convenience store" right next to the front desk.

Cons:
Connecting door, and the little girl next door was not using her inside voice. Also heard hallway noise.
Not enough drawer space.

  • Liked — Clean & comfortable room
  • Disliked — Noise from connecting room / hallway

My family and I stayed at this hotel and really enjoyed my stay here.
The complimentary breakfast was great. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. If you had any questions or problems they were taken care of immediately. Stayed for 4 days and hated to leave.
Staff even went the extra mile to learn our names. (Thanks Saladin) The room was very clean. There were more than enough towels and the bed was the top of the line pillow top mattress- king size. We stayed
in the king size suite 2 adults and a 13 year old a little tight for us but It served our purposes. Would stay here again in a minute
