“The Colonial Crossings of Williamsburg experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We traded our timeshare for Colonial Crossings of Williamsburg, VA.
The landscaping was in good taste. The staff was always very nice.
Upon arrival the initial impressions was that our rooms where very clean.
1.)Then I found extra pillows in the closet without pillowcases and they had a bad odor. The ones on the bed where very old.
2.)The couch in the living room had some stains on them.
3.)My timeshare has yearly timeshare maintenance fee that includes a cleaning person to come in and clean once in the middle of the week. This place only had them if we hired them to come in to clean. Very disappointing
4.)The dish soap, laundry soap, shampoo, hand and face soap was lacking compared to our resort. Once it was used we had to buy items at the Walmart close by.
5.)9/22/2012 I wanted to use the outdoor pool but declined when I notice that the walls in the pool had a dirty film.
6.)Then I notice that the plastic outdoor furniture needed to be cleaned. I cleaned the ones we used.
Over all the area for vacation had plenty to do. Jamestown, Williamsburg historical site,York river state park and some bicycle paths, and kayaking.
We did have a good vacation.
The timeshare trade was disappointing.

My dh and I just returned from Williamsburg, where we stayed at Colonial Crossings and had an excellent experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, a minor kitchen leak was fixed almost immediately, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. It made for a very nice week being able to daily wander Old Williamsburg and come home to a class apartment. The grounds are lovely, superbly maintained, with my favorite, roses, everywhere. Minutes from the new Williamsburg Pottery, and just across the way from a large shopping center that has everything one might need, yet secluded and private...we will be coming back!

This place was great. I know there a few bad reviews on here about them, but I don't know where those vacationers went because it couldn't have been here. The unit was large and clean. Their service was great, Kim and John helped to find us stuff to do while we were there. Every person we encountered that worked there said hello and asked how we were doing. The only thing we asked for was additional shampoo and laundry detergent and it was delivered within five minutes. We were here for a whole week ( in one of the older units, as people call them) and nothing went wrong and everything in the room was great. All I can say is I hope they have availability for my vacation next year. Thanks for the great stay.

Had planned on camping but had a groupon for this location so we took advantage. Lots and lots of space ! If you're traveling with a family for a long week-end or even a week, this is a great place. Starting to show some wear but still clean.Would stay again, staff really friendly....let us use their computer to print off our coupon. Joanne G

We had a groupon discount and wanted to take the kids to Busch gardens so gave it a shot.

Pros: Nice staff, easy check-in, helpful, quiet (we were there after the summer season), pool is clean, grounds are well kept. Pool has a little bar and they put out cookies. Restaurants just a few minutes away.

Cons: Feels a little like camping and I say that in all sincerity. They state on their website that they have "Colonial Comfort" mattresses and this may not be a stretch considering what the colonists probably slept on. Beds are rock hard; you can feel the springs. The pillows are pretty awful and rock-like too. Synthetic blankets have the occasional surprise long black hair stuck in them.

Bottom line: It's not comfortable, but it will do. Bring your own pillows.

Thank you for your review.

While we certainly respect any review, positive or negative, we would disagree that our resort provides a vacation experience similar to camping. Our resort offers spacious layouts and each unit is equipped with a full kitchen. We regret that your bed was not as comfortable as you would have liked. However, we think that most would find it certainly more comfortable than an air mattress they would bring along for the camping trip.

Thanks again for staying with with us. We invite you back in the future and hope your stay exceeds your expectations.

We received this option through a Groupon offer for 2 nights. When we arrived, check-in was very simple. We opened the door to the room and were pleasantly surprised! As you can see from some of the pictures, the room (room 336) was more than adequate for the two of us (we are in our 50's). Having a room on the end of the building was very nice too...due to the only real complaint that we had was that the room next door had a loud family during "normal" hours...no "after-hours" noise. We didn't use any of the appliances other than the refrigerator and the washer/dryer...and they worked well (except the washer/dryer was a little noisier than expected). Other than that, it was very enjoyable...and we can't wait until another Groupon offer comes along!!

We are glad you came to visit us and thank you for the review.

It is great to read that you were "pleasantly surprised" with your accommodations. Our staff works very hard to keep our units operational and beautiful.

With many families visiting us year round, we love "family noise!" But we understand that sometimes the noise can be loud. If any of our guests experience a "noisy" neighbor, our resort is staffed 24/7 and we encourage a phone call to the Front Desk so we can address your concern(s).

Nonetheless, thanks for staying with us! See you again soon!

There were issues from the start. The room, essentially a one bedroom apartment, was described as a "villa." Noise from the other rooms could be heard quite easily. There were no toiletries and no hairdryer, and when we asked for extra pillows and a clean blanket, the pillows were delivered without pillowcases. The furniture was cheap and the appliances low-end. The televisions were dated as well. The facility is essentially a time-share: there is no daily maid service, and you have to clean your own room. RECOMMENDATION: There are many hotels in the Williamsburg region run by the major labels. Unlike this facility, many would have a restaurant and various activities within walking distance. Check for deals, and avoid this mistake.

Thank you for staying with us. We regret that your experience did not mirror that of thousands of satisfied, happy vacationers.

Colonial Crossings of Williamsburg IS a time-share. And in keeping with our goal to create a "home-away-from-home" vacation experience, each unit is equipped with a full kitchen with modern appliances, a washer and dryer and jetted tubs for example. We also offer daily maid service as well as a mid-week cleaning (for guests staying a week or so) for a nominal fee. We are confident that our room amenity package is comparable to other hotels/resorts.

Our resort is conveniently located to many eateries, some arguably within walking distance. For example, Subway is 0.5 miles from the resort. Burger King and IHOP are 1.2 miles and both are adjacent to a Wal-Mart Supercenter to purchase groceries for in-room cooking. That being said, we hope you tried a Shack burger at "The Shack" Bar & Grill which is on the resort premises. Furthermore, the resort is conveniently located 10 miles from Busch Gardens for guests seeking thrills. We also have daily activities at the resort for guests to enjoy in addition to the arcade and fitness center.

While we appreciate your recommendation to stay at hotel/resort run by "the major labels", we are certain that many vacationers will find that our accommodations, amenities and service will exceed the same at some of those "labels".

Despite our shortcomings during your recent stay, we do hope you will give us another chance.
