“Water Park Fun, but....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Our two grand-children loved the water park. It wore them out both days we were there. The hotel was over-rated... in somewhat disrepair/maintenance, and very noisy. The noises from the corridor and the rooms upstairs kept the boys awake... the next morning they said that there must have been kangaroos living upstairs.

The food at the hotel was just ok, nothing special. The $20 dinner buffet was disappointing and that price didn't include any beverages. The Breakfast buffet was about the same. Speaking of beverages, the bar tried to sell me a basic Jack Daniels and Ginger Ale for $11.99.

This was definitely not a 4 or 5 star facility, yet the prices would indicate so. I do realize that the water park is a huge asset, but they tried to imitate the Wilderness Lodge at Disneyworld, and failed miserably.

My whole family went to celebrate my daughters second birthday and my nephews birthday. There were 9 adults and 7 kids. Some friends of my sister in laws also came. (2 more adults and 3 kids) We went in knowing cost etc.
Pros: the water park was clean. I liked how many lifeguards were present. The staff in the restaurant was very nice. They sang happy birthday and gave us all ears and tails. It was worth staying one night but we had done all the rides within a hour. I can not see staying more then one night.
CONS: first off we get there and find out all of us are on different floors. Not close at all. Then I could not find a luggage cart. 10 mins later I located one and couldn't get on the elevator. I waited 3 times and it was always full. So I decided to go down the stairs. Passed 3 employees, none offered to help. As it is a indoor water park the carpets in the halls were gross. I told them when I made reservations I had a elderly person with me but yet the put us on the top floor pretty far from elevators. I would recommend if you are traveling with some one of age or disability that you request especially a room close to elevators.
Overall: we may go back once our 2 year old gets older. However we prefer water country. Lots more to do and my 6 year prefers it more.

Just came back from the Great Wolf Lodge. Went with a total of 3 adults, a 7 year old and a 2 year old. The resort was clean, well kept up and a great overall apperance. We had a family suite and it was clean and perfect for our needs. The life guards were amazing! Very attentive and that was important. Some of the other staff was not overly friendly which was a dissapointment since it is all about the kids here. Story hour and face painting was great. We wil visit again!

We stayed in this hotel as a multigenerational family of 8 split between two 2 bedroom suites on a Living Social deal. Arriving midday Sunday was hectic, check in was busy and the water park was swarming with people. It was even difficult to navigate the lobby. Had lunch at the main restaurant off the lobby which was reasonable ($12 for wok bar and salad bar together) and tasty. Service in restaurant was great.
Rooms were a pleasant surprise; I was turned off after reading previous reviews about filthy dirty rooms and dead insects. Those reviewers must have been in a different part of the hotel (we were in rooms 2007 and 2008 on the main floor). Our rooms were very clean and updated nicely. One bedroom had queen bed and en suite bathroom. Other bedroom had two queens but no window. The kids loved the sleeper sofa. There was a very nice bathroom off the main entrance. Microwave and fridge in the rooms were a nice touch. Room also had a balcony.
The water park was a lot of fun. It was hard to find seats/tables on our first night even though we went down after 6pm (closes at 9pm). But it was a sunday so we figured that was the reason for the busyness. The next day was much lighter even though it was a holiday (veterans day) and we were able to easily find a place to set up when we arrived at the park around 2pm. Water park was A LOT of fun. Life jackets provided in all sizes (especially helpful for our fearless 4 and 5 yr olds) and plenty of life guards around to make you feel safe. All the rides are well kept and a lot of fun. It helped that there were barely any lines when we went on Monday; we were able to ride all of the slides repeatedly. Most of the slides are appropriate for all ages (42" and up) so we had a lot of fun as a family. We didn't even get to the arcade ("mommy, it looks like chuck e cheese!!!") or the miniature golfing and other entertainment options.
Hotel is literally one minute away from a shopping center with a Walmart, IHOP (our breakfast choice), and multiple fast food options.
Was a fun trip for the discounted cost. Definitely family oriented. Wouldn't stay for more than one or two nights though...

This is always a big hit with the kids. There are tons of fun things to do here and the staff is very kid-friendly and family focused. The only downside is trying to get some decent food while here. We recommend eating all meals off the premises if you are able to. We even prefer driving over to Walmart and buying sandwich fixings to trying to eat here.

We went to GWL based on recommendations from friends and we're glad we did. There was plenty for us to do, both in the resort and in the area. The one down-side is the bed was the worst I've slept on - even the fold-out sofa was more comfortable. Having a water park just down the hall made up for that! The rest of the room was great. Our son loved the bunk beds and we liked the fireplace (although it was too warm to use it). After three nights we were still friendly with each other so it was definitely a place to which we'll return someday.

Room Tip: Pick the top floor to avoid noisy foot traffic from above.

We went to Great Wolf Lodge November 8 (thurs) - November 10 (sat) with our family of 5. We have 3 kids, ages 5, 2 1/2, and 4 months old. We had a great time during our stay.

The room: The kids loved the cabin area in our room that they stayed in. We were on the first floor (room 1108) and were able to park our car outside our room, which we though was great. The room was clean and okay - think of families with kids staying in it all year - gets a little wear and tear, nothing extravagant, but suitable for our needs. The kids got a kick out of the tv in their room. There was a medium sized mini fridge (empty) in the room and a microwave which was great. Bring your own drinks so you don't have to pay $2.50/ drink. The room was available when we got there around 2 pm.

Activities: We opted for a Paw pass. It was our first time at wolf lodge and we new we wanted the wands for the boys. At 5 and 2 1/2, they had fun. They didn't understand everything (my 5 year old understood more than the 2 1/2 year old) - but they loved aiming their wands everywhere. The paw pass was also good to say "you can spend these but once you are done, you are done". They got the stuffed animal - like build a bear - one picked a dragon, the other a wolf. They brought them to story time and LOVEd them. They also got a tattoo - which can come off in the water park - so plan to get the last day. They were able to decorate a pillowcase, t-shirt, or knapsack at club cub. And they got dippin dots one night! Oh and arcade points to spend (so fun). The first night we play Magi quest and hung out.

Food: The first night we ate at the buffet - the staff was VERY nice and attentive and the food was good. Not a 5 star meal - but it was fine. We spent about $80 and that was with 2 beers, 2 daquiris and a bottle of wine to take back to our room!!

The 2nd night we ate at jungle jims - we walked there - it was nice to leave the lodge and get some fresh air - but also nice not to have to pack 3 kids into the car

We did eat one breakfast at the buffet - it was very good.

We ate our one lunch at the pool - it was okay. The kids got kids meals and I got a salad - the chicken was dry - but no different then any other fast food salad.

Water Park - Our kids enjoyed the water park. They had fun going in and out of the water and the kids hot tub (our 5 year old) and the wave pool and the kids slides and the water works. My 5 year old went on all the tube rides (except the tornado one as he's only 44") - he loved them!

There were enough life jackets, towels, tubes, etc. But we did go on a Friday - got there when it opened and left around 3. The lifegaurds were attentive and my 2 year old (we call him boo boo) fell and they were right there to help - it was in 0 inches of water, but he fell carrying his drink back to the table.

We will absolutely be going back! We spent about $450 on the rooms for the 2nights and about $400-$500 on other stuff (dinner, lunch, paw passes, etc). We could have done it cheaper if we wanted by bringing more of our own food or going out to eat.
