“Lovely, as always”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

Always enjoyable, no matter what time of year. No visit to Williamsburg is complete without a visit to Merchants Square for a little shopping and people-watching. It's commercial, but not overly so. It is in the middle of the historic area so even if you don't go to Colonial Williamsburg, (as in paying for), you can still get quite a bit of history and atmosphere just walking around here. The shops are great, the food is great. (Don't forget to visit the Scotland House if you're a Scots-person like me :)

“Fun area to spend a couple of hours”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

We spent a week in Williamsburg and found Merchants Square a great place to eat, shop and be entertained. There were strolling carollers and a fantastic two man version of Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol that really had us laughing. There is a great variety of restaurants, from the Starbucks in Barnes & Noble to fine dining (our favorite was the Blue Talon) and lots of shops were you can pick up things to remind you of your trip - from folk art at the Craft House to Virginia peanuts and gourmet items at the Williamsburg Peanut Shop. We found decorative accents for the house and unique gifts to take home. Granted, the prices are commensurate with the location, but there were plenty of sales and quite a few of the receipts we received had discounts for other shops printed on them, which we were happy to use.

“Neat Shops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

There are so many shops, restaurants and even a theatre. Lots to see and do for everyone. Great craft shops. Anything you want to find about Williamsburg can be found at the bookstore as well. This Historic area is a block away.

Love the outdoor shopping experience! Nice, modern shops. Upscale restaurants. A little pricey, but fun!

“Something for everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Merchant's Square is not to be missed. They have great places to eat and unique shops. There are clothing stores, a coffee shop, a shop that gives out free samples of peanuts, a cheese shop... and so much more. In the summer they have entertainment and a farmers market. It is just off from Colonial Williamsburg.
