A big thank you to the BOOK Store for have a public restroom, recent author book signing and some nice pricing. The puppeteer doing a solo Christmas Carol, and an authentic St. Nick. There are some beautiful offerings of fine stemware and other home furnishings. BUT everything Williamsburg, the Colonial Williamsburg visitor center and the shops in "The Capital City" must have a direct line the China. We were planning on the purchase of a few silver tea caddy because we liked the design. Closer review the box and item were marked China. I know that $20. does not buy much, but many items for sale are also China. I know that not much for sale is actually made by the colonial artisans, but what happened to the quality? I purchased a sterling silver scrolled bangle bracelet for wife 30 years ago. Hers is much heaver and more solid than the way overpriced cuff bracelets on sale now. What happened to the apothecary delftware that we also purchased 20 years ago (Virginia Lamp and other designs). The stuff now looks like it came from the old Williamsburg Pottery. I have a lithograph of the Geddy House, those are gone too. We did still make a few purchases made by Virginia craftsmen. Recommendation ~ Hey people leave your dogs at home. Our 2 greyhounds survived without us for a week, yours can too.
