My fiancee and I received a 2 night/3 day complimentary stay at the Williamsburg Plantation. We knew when booking it, there would be a timeshare presentation. Check-in was swift and the staff was professional. We were in Unit A140, which is a spacious 1 bedroom condo. Furniture is dated and shows signs of wear and tear, but decorated nicely. The bathroom is huge, with a nice whirlpool tub. The walk-in shower had cracks and peeling at the bottom. The bathroom could use some TLC and a good cleaning, but overall nice. The king bed was too firm for our liking. The walls are VERY thin and it sounds like your neighbors are in the same room with you, but the majority of the time spent in the condo was quiet. It was cold and windy so we didn't walk around to see much of the grounds, but from the back patio we could see the tennis courts which were nice and we could see that there were people enjoying the indoor pool. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping very close to the resort. We chose to head to the beach, which was only about 45 minutes away. Getting to and from was easy, so location is very good. The roads will rattle your teeth loose though. The timeshare presentation was odd, but Robert was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable in his field and a very good salesman. The presentation was actually for a unit in The Colonies, which is close to the Plantation. That unit was beautifully decorated, updated kitchen and bathrooms, and very clean. When asked why we were not put up in a unit they were trying to sell us instead of one of the older ones, he responded with "Psh, we usually put you up in the hotel." Further explanation was slathered with more BS, so I just tuned it out. Once we returned to the Plantation to talk cost, we declined and there was very little "pressure selling". He shook our hand and took us to where we picked up our gifts, which was a Visa gift card with $125 + $75 for the deposit refund when we first booked. It also included two additional 3 night/4 day complimentary stays at two of their sister resorts to use throughout the year. Very nice package and a lot of money spent on their part to bring us out for the weekend. Thank you to the management/marketing team for the opportunity. The nerve of some of the people that receive the same thing and then come on sites like this and complain about anything. Shame on you. If you are paying for your stay on the other hand, I understand your complaints. Some of the money spent shipping "potentials" out to see the property should be invested in updating the property for the people that already own.
