“Great budget stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012

If you just want somewhere to rest your head while in the area and you're not fussy, this is the place for you.

Ok, the place is a little tired, but that just adds to the charm.

Ok, it's not a full breakfast, but what do you expect for the low price?

What is provided is totally adequate.

Great location, walking distance to everything in Williamsburg and a straight shot to Jamestown and Yorktown on the nearby Colonial Parkway (beautiful drive).

Jim is really nice and it's brilliant to have a separate entrance so that you can come in as late as you like without disturbing him.

And the best part? It's the cheapest place to stay in town by a good chunk.

The only thing that could do with being changed is the shower curtain and bath mat, otherwise it's a 5-star budget place.

NB - people with allergies to cats might have a problem here.

This B&B was exactly what we were looking for for our quick little day and half trip to Williamsburg. Because the property is so close to the Historic Area (right across the street from William & Mary), we were able to park our car at the B&B and not move it until we left later in the afternoon the following day. The house is old and charming with old and charming quirks, such as not using the toaster at the same time as the space heater, but we found our stay quite enjoyable.

I cannot imagine having a host more accomodating and friendly than Jim. The private entrance to the B&B was great because you didn't feel like you were disturbing someone when you came in at night. The bed was very comfortable and even though it was a chilly night, Jim gave us plenty of blankets (and the above-mentioned space heater) to warm us up. Breakfast was simple--bagels, cereal, scones, milk, apple juice--but exactly what we would have wanted anyway.

If you're looking for a cozy room with a wonderful host within walking distance of all the historic sites, Autumn Leaves may just be your perfect spot! And make sure you sign the guestbook :)

I found this quaint "Bread & Bagel" hide-a-way surfing the internet just before Christmas 2011 weekend. My husband, James, and I were looking for a nice Christmas weekend in Williamsburg, and we found one. Autumn Leaves is a little apartment tucked inside an old colonial home owned by a sweet gentleman, Jim. Jim made our experience even nicer than I could have hoped for. He carries on his late wife's dream running his little B & B, and surely makes her proud. The quarters has its own door to come and go, a cute little kitchen he keeps supplied with orange juice, coffee and milk and a small private bath with shower, and a good sized bedroom in antique style. He keeps the little basket on a table refreshed with pastries and fruit to boot. We enjoyed sharing stories with Jim, and he offers great suggestions for dining and attractions. Autumn Leaves sets closely to "Old Town" and is right across from William & Mary College. This little place is well worth the price! There is a bookshelf and television, but one spends such a fun filled day, you'll find a very comfy rocker and bed to come back to. We will definitely be future guests now! Thank you so much, Jim!

Although the location can't be beat, the accomodations have many issues. The first thing one notices when walking in, is the moldy smell and grungy appearance. It is "quaint" but not in a good way. If you have allergies this is not the place to stay. There was dust everywhere including in the floor duct work and in the airconditioning. The wiring does not allow you to use more than 1 appliance, phone charging or computer use at the same time without blowing a fuse. The refrigerator was filthy, the stove does not work. Both appliances and "tv" are from the 70s at best. The price is fair, but this is not a place I would stay at again or recommend. Also the bathroom door does not close. There is mold in the tub surround. If you weight more than 120 lbs you can't get in or out of the gate to the apartment. This is not a true B and B as there is no hot breakfast as is traditional for a B and B. There is a basket of food when you get there that is your meal for the next morning. We had 1 banana, a rotten grapefruit and 2 pastries, a muffin and 2 bagels that were hand wrapped. There were 2 juices and 1 2% milk (10 oz size) in the refrigerator. Jim had a quick 5 min speal about all the "ammenities" and things to look out for (problems)/ and that was all we saw of him. His bedroom is directly over the apartment and his bed is just as squeaky as the one in the apartment. On an upside there is free parking and within walking distance to most sites

Room Tip: don't recommend

We had a great time at the Autumn Leaves bed and breakfast. Jim is very welcoming and provided us with a wealth of information about the area. It is only a short walk to colonial williamsburg so no need to be concerned with driving or finding parking. We plan on coming back soon and highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

This was a cozy little B&B with a wonderful and kind host. It was a no-fuss sort of place, but extremely relaxing and a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was the perfect location- walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg, the Transportation Center, Merchant Square, and there's a quiet bus line that drives right up the street. You don't even need a car. Not to mention the bed and sheets were the most comfortable I've ever slept in- including my own! The breakfast was simple, healthy, and delicious. And Jim (the host) can gives great suggestions on places to eat and visit.
