“Nice and close to everything we wanted to see. Not very impressed with the room.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

THE RESORT
We stayed here for a week using our Wyndham points. The resort is nice close to everything we wanted to see and visit (Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens and Water Country USA)

They charge $5 a night for an activity fee...even if you don't do any activities. So keep that in mind in booking this resort especially if your won't be using any of the acitivities. We have been to many Wyndham Timeshare resorts before and we have never encountered this type of fee that's why I want to write about it so others won't be surprised.

My 4 year enjoyed the activities center. So for us it was worth paying the $5 fee. The "no coin" game rooms (2 game rooms), mini golf and the free movies at the movie theater helped to lessen the blow of having to pay for the activities fee.

After checking in, we were ushered over to the sales desk where they made it seem as if it was mandatory to attend the free breakfast/owners update. But we learned our lesson and said NO immediately. We were staying for a week but we have too many activities lined up so the person didn't bother us. At least he was not pushy.

This Resort has a lot of amenities to keep you busy for a day or two. The staff were pleasant. Also there is are 2 arcade rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, playground and a 18 hole mini golf course.

THE ROOM
Not very impressed with the room. We booked a 1 bedroom and it is showing its age.
The kitchenette fells cramped but it still saved us some money as we were able to cook some of our meals in the room and eat breakfast and dinner in the unit. The washer and dryer are very helpful since we went the the water park and the beach (VA Beach is 1 hr away from the resort)

SUMMARY
It was a great last minute trip for us using our expiring Wyndham points. It is an older resort but in a very good location.

This was a timeshare exchange, used by a 60-year-old grandma, 30-year-old daughter and 6-1/2-year-old grandson. The one-bedroom unit was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was incredibly well equipped - even detergent, coffee filters, salt & pepper, and some coffee - and had top-of-the line appliances. We very much enjoyed using both pools, mini-golf and arcades. The property was well kept, and the staff very friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a great stay here!

Rooms: The complex is large, see if you can get a room in a building on the perimeter which faces the greenbelts, great views... (bldg 1,2,3,6,7,13,19,20,21,and 37) The second floor is better, the first floor you hear everyone walking on the second floor.

Location: My family and I stayed here for a few nights while visiting Williamsburg, it's near all the activities and proximity to restaurants and groceries is great. K-mart is a block away for any essentials.

Decor: We had a two bedroom which was very large and comfy, very nicely decorated in colonial style. King size bed was, as my son would say, freakin' awesome! TV's in every room except the kitchen. Having a washer and dryer in the unit is really handy.

Ammenities: We found 3 great DVD's to rent, $2 each. The game room was filled with kids, but we had fun in there also. The tavern area looked terrific, we didn't have a chance to grab a drink this time, maybe next time. Pools were large, towel sign in/out wasn't too bad.

The only drawback of our stay was the concierge station. We are Worldmark owners, and this is the second time Wyndham has given off vibes as though we are trespassing on their property. The other time was in Hawaii. Wyndham thinks very highly of themselves, hooray for them, but they come across as arrogant which pushes us away rather than draws us in to their timeshare.

Room Tip: The complex is large, see if you can get a room in a building on the perimeter which faces the green...

We spent 6 nights at the Wyndham Kingsgate and it exceeded our expectations.
Our kids really enjoyed all the activities, especially the pools, the golf, and the game room.
All the games in the game room are free- Now that is super cool for the parents, as it
saved us numerous quarters! Our 11 year old son, just today. was telling a friend about his trip and he went on and on about this great resort.
After long days exploring our US History at numerous places or having fun at Busch Gardens/Water Country, it was great to return to our "home away from home". The 2 bedroom condo was very roomy and clean.
If we return to Williamsburg, we would stay at this property and will recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: We had a view of a pond, and it was a quick walk to the pool/game area.

Although the amenities are great for kids and the grounds are immaculate, and the location is great, there were many "maintenance" type things wrong with our 2 bedroom unit. I doubt that we would return.

We stay at the Kingsgate the first week of April 2012 for Spring break. The room was clean and spacious and it was so nice that the kids had their own bedroom. We saved a lot of money eating in the room and making use of the full kitchen. The pool area can be noisy in the evening so if that may bother you request a room not facing the pool. I think the noise usually ended around 10 pm. We were very close to Colonial Willamsburg which was very convenient. It was only 5 or 6 minutes to the visitors center where you park to visit the Colonial area. The kids (age 5 and 6) enjoyed the resort. We played mini golf, did a craft, used the playground and swam. We would definitly stay here again if we visit the Williamsburg area.
