“Nice Hotel but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

a not so great Breakfast buffet. Would have expected better, but can't complain since it's free. Plenty of restaurants close by that serve breakfast. Recently renovated, the usual, very hip design for SpringHill Suites. Would recommend this hotel.

I stayed for three nights with my wife and two kids. We had one child who had an upset stomach. Later in the evening I went to get some extra blankets since we were using the sleeper sofa and the comforters are thin. The two people front desk generously told me to take a ginger ale from the shop but I told them they were out. They checked in the back but they didn't have any. One of said they would go across the parking lot to the Residence Inn to get one but I thanked them and told them not to worry about it. I went back upstairs and five minutes later there was a quiet knock on the door and one of them was there with the drink.

The folks who maintained the breakfast buffet in the morning were hopping to keep up with the large number of guests and they not only handled it well one even commented to my wife that she likes it this busy.

Great staff, ample parking, nice facility. The hotel can be a little loud with hallway noise at night.

Just spent a night a the Springhill with 50 kids and I was very pleased with the hotel. Check in was easy, the staff welcoming and the hotel clean. The rooms were large, and very clean. The pull out couches were and added extra to give the kids options. Though the breakfast could be improved by adult standards, the kids loved it and started a very long day of touring with full stomaches. Would definately stay here again on our next trip.

Room Tip: Great for families since the rooms sleep 6

I am so glad you and your school group enjoyed your stay with us. We You are right, with all rooms having pullout sleeper sofas, it allows more room and more sleeping options. We follow the Marriott Standards on our breakfast offered each morning as well as a few extras. I hope to host your group again in the upcomnig years. Thank you.

We just stayed at the Springhill suites over spring break week. Everything was just fine. Clean hotel for the most part. It was a busy week, so the breakfast area had people standing and eating. Our room was great. Small fridge and freezer which is great when traveling with an infant for bottles. We were on the first floor and the only time I heard people through the walls was on our last night. When in the bathroom, you could also hear either the room next to you or above you in the bathroom, also.... that was a bit strange. You could hear the neighbors talking through the vent in the bathroom. My husband hated the smell of chlorine each time we walked through the lobby, but it did not bother me. I would definately book their again if the price was right and I am to return to Williamsburg!!

Room Tip: request a room away from stairs and lobby.

My husband and I stayed here a few years back and had a good experience, from what we remember. This past weekend we went back- and round 2 wasn't as good.
- The bed was the squishiest bed we ever slept in- and we both slept pretty horribly. Our backs felt like crap for two days after
- granted, we had a 1st floor room that was close to the lobby, but we heard every single thing going on outside of the room (from the cleaning closet next door to the hallway) but also, in our bathroom we could hear everything from the room (bathroom i assume?) above us. coupled with the uncomfortable bed, it was another reason why we didnt sleep well.
- breakfast was fine- nothing special, but they had several choices.
- staff was friendly
- the lobby smelled like a combination of chlorine and windex at all times
- complimentary coffee in the lobby at all times- that was nice
- pool looked like a popular place for kids (we didnt go in).
- fitness center has 2 treadmills (one with TV, one without, but no remote or buttons to change the channel) and a bench with dumbbells.
- decor was fine- not as nice as a lot of Marriott's I've been to, but nothing bad.
- location is good- many restaurants in walking distance (try Food for Thought across the street. big menu and delicious food!)

I was here for one night with a group of 36. There were 26 8th graders and 10 adults in our party. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast they served our party was excellent. I would stay here again.

We are gold level Marriott rewards members and after staying at many Marriott properties we found this one to be substandard. The rooms were ok and fairly clean but when I see the word "renovated" it should mean the bathrooms as well as the living area of the room. In addition, the breakfast was not of good quality as the eggs were runny, the bagels small and hard, and in general very few choices. We are not complainers and never write reviews but after the assistant manager wouldn't accommodate our request to honor our rewards points for our third night of stay I thought it necessary to let others know of our disappointment overall of this property.

Dear Stephanieandtony21,
We were sorry to hear of your disappointment during your stay, especially with the breakfast. You will be pleased to know that Marriott is changing the breakfast to include many different unique items starting later this year. We also appreciate that you have told us of your concerns on our bathrooms, please know we take our guests comments seriously and are working to a solution. As far as Rewards Points stay is concerned, we do have a maximum amount of rooms that the hotel is allotted to Points stay and during Spring Break, I know we were sold out of them pretty early on. Thank you for taking time to let us know your concerns.
