“Ultra Modern, Hip, Uber Stylish Gem in Williamsburg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2010

I selected this hotel based on tripadvisor reviews for our mini memorial day getaway to Busch Gardens Europe; and TA came through for us again-. as usual. This hotel is not what you expect from this chain or the typical Williamsburg hotel experience, it's ambiance screams hip, trendy, new york, chicago ...... This comfort suites is brand new, super clean, very stylishly decorated with fun colors, awesome lobby with lots of comfortable seating. The indoor pool is very popular, I saw people having fun day & night. The game room is fun for all ages, with a nostalgic Ms Pacman Game that my husband had fun playing. We were too tired from our days of having fun at Busch Gardens to wake up on time to take advantage of the complimentary breakfast, so I can't comment on the quality of the food. Our 1 BR suite was large, very clean, nicely decorated & had a small micorwave/ fridge. The beds were very comfortable, and provided a very comfortable rest after our long days at the park. This hotel is very close to the parks, and I would not hesitate to stay there again as we are season pass members for Busch gardens.

We needed a place for one night of our Williamsburg tour. Based on a few reviews here, we chose Comfort Suites. We were not disappointed. My wife is very critical when it comes to room cleanliness. After a complete inspection, she found absolutely NO problems with our suite. There were six adults in our party, and we stayed in a very comfortable suite of rooms for only $159. Everything about this hotel was excellent. Later than week we stayed at one of the Colonial Williamsburg properties. It wasn't bad, but it was much more expensive, and not nearly as nice. As my wife put it, our Comfort Inn Suite was "plush.'

It was that and more. If in doubt, try this place out.

As a regular visitor to Williamsburg and surrounding towns I have stayed in multiple hotels in this area. So far I have found none which beat the style, comfort, cleanliness, and amenities of the "Comfort Suites Bypass." Keep in mind I have always been a loyal customer of the Intercontinental/Holiday Inn group, so it takes quite a nice hotel to steer me away from my points program and loyalty to my chain.
Below are things that help Comfort Suites Bypass stand well above the competition:

LOCATION- Only two minutes from historic Williamsburg and a quick walk to several restaurants! (Hooters, Golden Corral, and Uno's pizza are literally in the same parking lot as the hotel). The location is just off Williamsburg's main intersection, yet the property is exceptionally quiet.

CLEANLINESS- The hotel is brand new and every room smells as such. There isn't a stain or unpleasant odor to be found anywhere on the premises. You definitely have the feeling you are the first guest to ever occupy your assigned room.

FRIENDLINESS- I have stayed at this location on four different ocassions so far this year and have encountered only the most professional front desk staff on each visit. All guests are always greeted by a competent, sharp, professional with a smile on their face.

STYLE- This is perhaps my favorite thing about this hotel. As soon as one enters the lobby they are overwhelmed by the stunning, contemporary furnishings of the hotel's lobby. Immediately, one feels as though they have entered a swanky boutique hotel in Manhattan or London. The wonderful and unique decor permeates every inch of the property. The rooms are all suites and have contemporary fixtures and furnishings. You feel as if you are living in a piece of beautiful art.

AMENITIES- The owners of this hotel did not cut any corners when designing the rooms and amenities of this hotel. Perhaps the indoor pool and jaccuzzi are the greatest amenities in this funky hotel. The pool features mood lighting and arcs of water that stream across the swimmers as classical music plays over the speakers. The rooms are all well-appointed and roomy. This hotel also features a game room with a pool table! A meditation lounge and large breakfast room are also present in this amazing hotel. The sights and sounds of water features on the first floor work remarkeably well at soothing guests after a long day at work or hitting the town.

Agreeing with other reviewers - this is a pleasant new hotel, but with some quirks (i.e., the pattern of the carpets looks like it was taken directly from Frank Miller's "Sin City"). The location is generally good, but since the hotel is set back from the street, it can be hard to spot the first time. But I recommend it overall.

The atmosphere and decor of this new hotel is different from what one would generally expect from this category. It's contemporary, sleek, and clean; a welcome change! We travelled with three kids under the age of six years old, so they appreciated the "color changing pool." (the pool had multicolored lights that changed every few seconds) The hot tub was not working properly and the bleach from it burned our eyes, yet I am certain it was just a technical/technician glitch, that is probably already fixed.

One cloud in an otherwise sunny stay would be the unimpressive breakfast bar. They had a couple of waffle makers, which was nice, but their bread selection and hot items were sub-par for this category (for example, their eggs were the pre-made, sunnyside up ones that taste like rubber). Nonetheless, the breakfast area was nice and clean.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to others, with hopes that the minor kinks have had time to be worked out.

My husband and i saw this hotel online and figured we would try it out just for a small one night getaway. Well we ended up staying for three nights. The hotel is great. It's new, smells fresh, clean, & all of the front desk attendants were very professional and helpful. The decor in the hotel was beautiful. It was very modern and made you feel at home. Generally when i go to hotels i don't sleep very well but i must say i slept like a baby. I am definitely planning to go back on my next Williamsburg getaway.
