Based on the number of pancake houses on Richmond Hwy and the cars parked in the NY City Deli lot, those are the most common food destinations in Williamsburg. Try someplace different! We found Francesco's Ristorante Italiano in a strip shopping center by accident when NY City Deli next door to it was closed. Lucky us! Francesco's make the very best steak and cheese subs we have ever eaten. We now go out of our way when traveling on I-64 between Norfolk and D.C. to stop there and have lunch. We also had dinner there for the first time when spending the weekend in Williamsburg in June. Dinner was very tasty (but we still enjoyed the steak subs for lunch more). What else should you know? All the meals begin with delicious warm bread spread with pesto, butter, and Parmesan cheese. The service is excellent: fast and friendly. Portions are very generous. My husband stuffs in the whole sub; I bring home half for the next day. Dinner portions are also large but the food is so good that you just keep eating. The ambiance is very pleasant; definitely not what you'd expect in a strip shopping center. Fresh flowers are on the tables, candlelight and linen tablecloths decorate the evening tables. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
