“Another wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

It is so great to be able to get away from it all, without traveling all that far from home! The traditional southern atmosphere is always a trip back in time, yet with all of the modern amenities one could hope for to go with it. Thank you!

You have to be impressed as you enter the property up the large circular drive to the front door. Promptly greeted by the Alexander, the bellman on duty that time. He was very helpful while touting the amenities of the hotel. Easy check in and very professional staff. After being shown to a quite large room and unpacking it became obvious that the Williamsburg Inn was an excellent choice. Very clean room, especially the large bathroom with separate shower and tub. Quiet room with comfortable bed.

Room Tip: It appears that there may not be a bad room in the hotel..We stayed in the newer wing on the second...

Absolutely thrilled to stay at this property. With beautiful grounds, excellent staff, fantastic facilities and convenient location, I was extremely satisfied with the Williamsburg Inn. The rooms are very large and well maintained. The staff is extremely helpful and welcoming. The facilities are impressive and well run from the spa/ fitness/pool to golf and dining. This hotel does "hospitality" extremely well.

What a wonderful hotel....beautiful, spotless, convenient....When you think of the gracious South, you should think of this hotel. The afternoon doorman, Alexander, was terrific. He knew us throughout our stay and would get us anything we needed (we asked where the ice machine was and he said we shouldn't worry about it...he would get it. And he did in less than 5 mintues!). The desk did seem a bit understaffed when we checked in (and most afternoons when the vast majority of people were checking in) but that would be the only problem we encountered. The public areas were very nice and our room was stunning and well maintained.

We had a "Taste of the Tavern" package so breakfast was included. The food was perfect in every way and the staff were just wonderful. We commented on how much we loved the chef's daily smoothie and our waiter talked to the chef about how he made it and told us so we could try to make them at home!

We can hardly wait to go back....and can see ourselves doing it annually.

Room Tip: I do not think there is a bad room here....

Gorgeous property, history all around you, attentive staff, loveliness all around you.
Our room was amazing. Large, beautiful drapes, wallpaper and furniture.
Large beautiful bathroom.
Loved the outdoor patio overlooking the golf course.
There are 3 pools! We used the 'quiet' one.
Walk across the street and visit Historical Williamsburg.
Loved the Colonial Highway drive to Jamestown. Close to hotel.
The dining room was almost deserted...but we loved our meals there.
Reggie took good care of us at dinner in the Regency Room! OMG...
Would stay here again in a second!

We could not have been happier with choosing the Williamsburg Inn for our recent stay. My husband and son had been last year and loved it so the whole family went back this year. The Inn is beautiful -- our room was huge, our children loved the pool, and we really enjoyed dinner outside on the Terrace. The service was also impeccable. During our visit to the historic property our daughter suffered a cut for which she needed stitches. Before I could track down the other family members who had our car, the Williamsburg Inn security officer bandaged her up and whisked us off to the Urgent Care Clinic, then escorted my husband to the clinic to meet us. We can't wait to go back again.

Due to the fact that I live 10 minutes from WIlliamsburg, some may wonder why I am reviewing a hotel there. Conference. But my experience was well worth the money. The Governor's Inn is a great place to stay if you are planning a trip to Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, or Jamestown. It is one of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's properties, and as such you are staying right in the middle of all the action. You are just off the main road in the colonial park, and just across from the Magazine (where they stored arms and gunpowder). It was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The staff is first-rate, and the concierge service is one you should take advantage of. because you are staying at a foundation hotel, you can also get you pass tot he park as part of your reservation, and the concierge service can get you appointments to dine at one of the taverns or for a carriage ride, and other activities.

There is fine dining, fine shopping, and much history to experience as the living historians throughout the park are both engaging and knowledgeable. Be sure to visit the Capitol, the Governor's Palace, Bruton Parich Church (where I am a member - so I am a bit biased here), and Merchant Square. If you are into golf, they have world-class courses. If you really want to delve into history, be sure to visit Yorktown (where the British surrendered to Gen. Washington) and Jamestown settlement - the oldest English settlement in America - est. 1607 it pre-dates Plymouth in Mass. by a number of years. NO - the Pilgrims were not the first English in the new world!

It is certainly not a low budget endeavor staying here, but if you have the ability to do so, you are really missing out on a world-class hotel experience. But be sure to visit www.history.org and www.colonialwilliamsburg.com to look at the range of hotel accommodations and pricing for the Williamsburg Inn, or one of their other hotels. The Woodlands is a great value at a good price and is perfect for families with kids, the WIlliamsburg Lodge is nice, and for the budget minded check out the Governor's Inn.
