“ONE TO THE FINEST FIRST CLASS HOTELS IN US.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2013

We stayed their last week end 12 /12 to 12/15/2013; and, enjoyed one of the finest experiences we have had anywhere!. As with the CHRISTMAS SPIRIT the hotel was very well decorated for the holidays. They had top flight entertainment in lobby signing Christmas songs. They were dressed in 1775 dress and suits. It took one back to colonial times.
The food served in REGENCY ROOM was outstanding as was the service. We also ate in their Tavern like room off the bar; and, I had one of the very best crabcakes I have ever eaten, (move over Mortons of Chicago on this dish.)
We were particularly impressed with the attention to detail provided by the very sharp maid service. They catered to all our needs, requests and then some.
I was blown away by the night turn service that completely cleaned the rooms and bathrooms with fresh towels, etc. The night lady even noticed my ice bucket was down slightly, so that was completely refreshed.
The bell desk was manned by staff that at once recognized you the second they saw you. They even had at least three or four courtesy vans to take you to close in places, the visitor center, and of course, THE KINGS TAVERN where the food and drink was like 1775, and they were dressed accordingly. Then if you darank too much, the VAN WOULD COME AND DRIVE YOU BACK TO THE HOTEL!!!!!.

sincerely,

Edward F. Altman, Jr.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front on second floor. Perhaps a corner room.

My wife and I have a tradition of staying at the Williamsburg Inn around Christmas. This 1930's property, built by Rockefeller, is the premier hotel in Williamsburg, and judging by the price ...they are extremely proud of it.

We stayed in the "Queen's suite". Beautifully decorated in British elegance complete with a wood burning fireplace.

After we checked-in, we walked down to the lobby to enjoy the traditional white pine christmas tree decorated for the period. What a disappointment, the tree was ARTIFICIAL. My bubble was burst!

That evening we ordered a bucket of ice. It showed up after two calls and 45 minutes ...well stuff happens.

We were looking forward to breakfast in the Regency room the next morning. Well, we were finally seated after a 45 minute wait. We had to flag down a waiter for coffee and orange juice, which I got as we were leaving.

It's a long of saying service has become miserable. Our room was almost $900 per night, probably the most expensive room I've stayed in anywhere in the world. For this kind of money I expect explicable service. It wasn't any better than a $100 per night property.

Come on Colonial Williamsburg, return to your roots. Get your prices in-line and give your guests good value for their money. As an aside, the pricey Colonial Taverns have slipped as well.

Sorry, as a proud Virginian, I can no longer recommend Colonial Williamsburg.

The Inn has managed to combine elegant ambience and a warm welcoming atmosphere. The hotel is beautifully maintained, the staff is attentive and eager to please. Our room, a deluxe double with fireplace, was exquisite. Everything about the Inn is perfect.

I stayed at the Inn for the first time. It was very nice. It is beautiful with a great location. The bellhops and housekeeping staff were outstanding. The rest of the staff was fine. If you have a problem that needs to be resolved you'll probably need to go to the hotel manager.

I recommend the taverns in Colonial Williamsburg for dining. I only ate breakfast in the dining room and got a piece of pie from room service but neither was very good. Don't let this deter you, there are many great places to eat nearby.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel are a little noisy with people coming and going. Beautiful though.

One year after I wrote "An outstanding and impeccable full-service luxury hotel" review of the Williamsburg Inn, I return for a three-night stay and can honestly admit I have fallen in love.

I enjoy luxury and five-star properties as much as anyone, but mostly stay at much more modest hotels. I am a senior citizen and this is my annual "Big Splurge." Trust me on this, if you want to splurge and be confident you will never doubt the overall value, stay at The Williamburg Inn.

The staff has been employed for years, and shows it by delivering hospitality flawlessly. The warm welcome upon entering, the friendly check-in, and then entering your own very well appointed room give you a expectation this stay will be extraordinary. The Regency Dining Room hosts, hostesses and wait staff welcome you back after a year's absence, in spite of a sell-out weekend at the Inn.

The concierge staff keeps you informed on what is going on in this very busy restored colonial city. They are honest, unlike many in chain hotels who seem to be paid for their recommendations. The housekeepers have a genuinely warm "Good morning" to you each day with a smile while they look into your eyes.

The room, the staff, the fine food, the wines, the ample free parking, and the fabulous location at the center of the colonial capital make the Inn exceptional. I must focus special praise on the front desk, which last year I found to be officious at best. A huge improvement was noted this year, even before arrival when confirming reservations at the best-available rate. During the stay and upon departure, the front desk staff all performed with high-level professionalism.

When you want and deserve the very best in warm and personable flawless service, the Williamsburg Inn delivers. You can settle into your overstuffed room chair, gaze out at the landscaping and golf course, and quietly declare, "Life is good."

This serious cynic must now grudgingly admit he has fallen in love with a hotel.

A very classy and comfortable place to stay in the heart of Colonial Willamsburg. A convenient location for taking in the community's history and pre-Christmas festivities.

The location of this old and traditional Inn is close to all activities and sites of Colonial Williamsburg. The Inn is one of the most well kept traditional Hotels in the States; you really feel back living in these old days. The service is excellent and the food, too. Thanks, we will return again.
