“Outstanding in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

We expected the Williamsburg Inn to be charming, tasteful, and colonial-feeling, and it was all of this and more. We had the privilege of staying in a very special suite on the second floor, and indeed felt like royalty. The service was above and beyond, including the concierge and front desk staff, doormen / porters, and housekeeping. Unlike chain resorts, the staff seem to take pride in providing exceptional service. They helped us plan our two days to the fullest, and provided very timely and friendly shuttle service when we requested it. The location could not be better: it is within easy walking distance to everything in Colonial Williamsburg, but when you step onto hotel grounds, set back from the street, you sense a certain calm and quiet. Despite the quiet atmosphere, they were very welcoming to our active children, and we had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful outdoor pool. Williamsburg itself is a magical place to visit, and we will definitely be back.

We recently stayed for two nights at the Williamsburg Inn. The staff, the room and the experience overall was lovely and the kind that is just not that easy to find anymore. However, the Inn is in need of some refurbishment. Some of the furniture is very tired and although it is located in a historic district, it is time to replace some of the furnishings, carpets, drapes etc. Check in was perfect and the concierge was very helpful. Housekeeping and the cleanliness of the room was all great. We had a huge room with a fireplace, a great bathroom and the amenities were from their spa. Dining here was a bit old school, but nice. We only ate breakfasts which was the typical buffet. Service everywhere was excellent. You can't beat the location and I would go back. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Loved the room with the fireplace. Bathroom was huge and rooms are a great size. Very quiet.

We recently stayed at the historic Williamsburg Inn while taking our daughter to the nearby College of William & Mary. My husband and I have visited the other hotels within the family but the Inn is by far a premium, luxury property. I had booked a superior room and was very satisfied with its comfort, décor and amenities. The room was spacious and good for entertaining a few guests. The service at the Williamsburg Inn is on par with what you would expect at such a hotel...the staff was welcoming and eager to please. The hotel is perfect for experiencing Colonial Williamsburg with its convenience and atmosphere. When we visit W&M over the next four years, we will certainly be making our reservations at the Williamsburg Inn!

We loved this unique, non-chain, luxury hotel and will be back. Having a drink on the back terrace gives one the feeling of being a guest in a graciously appointed home. Breakfast in the Regency Dining Room is a particular delight.

In 1937, John D. Rockefeller Jr. built the Williamsburg Inn, a five-star hotel adjacent to Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William and Mary. It is one of the nation's most distinguished hotels that has been host to U.S. presidents and heads of state, including Queen Elizabeth II in 1957 for Jamestown's 350th anniversary and in 2007 for Jamestown's 400th anniversary. It has a wonderful dining room, the Regency Room, three excellent golf courses and easy access to Colonial Williamsburg. The nearby Colonial Parkway provides short drives to historic Jamestown (west) and Yorktown (east). And the James River plantations, including Shirley and Berkeley and Sherwood Forest and Westover, are on Route 5 on the road to Richmond. For the second time in the last few years, we stayed in the same room, just off the main lobby. You can't ask for better bathroom facilities, including a huge shower and jacuzzi bath. Sleeping in the king-sized bed was an endorsement for relaxation at its best. Breakfast and dinner in the Regency Room was a plus, everything you would expect of a five-star resort. From the moment we arrived and were greeted at the front door by the bellmen (more than one) who took care of our luggage, we were wrapped in hospitality. The staff makes you feel like you are member of the Queen's entourage. When I asked a question of the concierge, she had the answer as quickly as it took me to walk from her office to my room. When you spend a lot of money for three days at a five-star hotel, you feel you are entitled to good service. And the Williamsburg Inn never disappoints.

Room Tip: There isn't a bad room at the Williamsburg Inn. It is centrally located, a short walk to Colonia...

First of all, this hotel is beautiful. Its old and has an antique beauty to it. Its also in a prime location, literally walking distance to colonial Williamsburg, towns and shops, and the College of William and Mary. But the service really is what stood out to me. The concierge was friendly and helped us plan a personalized schedule for the day. She also gave us discounts to a number of different things, including admisson tickets and carriage rides. The dinner and breakfast staff was very caring and when I had on a slevless dress, a waitress brought over a shawl for me to borrow. All in all, a very lovley, comfortable hotel that I look forward to satying at again!

We cannot say enough good about this place. It exceeded our expectations. The rooms are elegantly decorated with added touches that excel beyond compare. You will not be disappointed as it is so convenient to Historic Williamsburg and the hotel staff go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable.
