“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We recently stayed at the Williamsburg Inn for my Mom's 50th birthday. She absolutely loves the hotel and this is her second trip here within a year. My parents are both avid golfer and love the golf course at the hotel. This was my first time at the hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect and is within walking distance (basically across the street) to Colonial Williamsburg attractions, shops, and restaurants. The staff was impeccable and welcoming. The rooms were gorgeous as is the hotel. I read several reviews stating that the hotel was dated and needs to be renovated, the hotel is in no way modern, and is not designed to be, but is filled with old fashioned southern charm. The hotel lends it self to a traditional colonial feel in decoration with an elevated opulence. The grounds of the hotel were gorgeous. The fitness center was amazing and has any type of machine that you could want all with their own TVs. They also offer exercise classes. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, which I would describe as fairly good, not the best I have ever had, but good. The only critique I can offer for the hotel, is that the parking lot was very dimly lit at night, other than that we had an amazing stay and can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: We were in 3280, we didn't have any views from the room, but the layout of the suite is perfect.

The hotel claims to be the best of the best so expectations are high but they fail to deliver. Sure the main building is in excellent shape and the rooms are well kept. However the outbuildings are clearly in need of upgrade and are outdated. It feels like a very average hotel and to cap it off I found a huge cockroach in the bathroom so clearly their pest control service needs attention.

I called reception about this and was told that a manger would follow up in the morning but there was no follow up. Clearly no one cared enough .. so a por experience overall.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building and avoid the outbuildings

Reserved their least expensive room and was amazed how large and clean it was. Spa was excellent. Restaurants are also pretty good. Staff is quite helpful in addressing any concern or issue you might have. Considering everything, a very good value for such an exceptional hotel.

We stayed at the Williamsburg Inn to attend graduation at William and Mary. What a treat. Our suite was located on the top floor and in a word it was spectacular. Large - comfortable - elegantly decorated. The staff was incredibly gracious and welcoming ... as we left the young attendant asked when we planned to be back again. Nice touch. While it rained most of the weekend, the staff always had umbrellas handy and offered us rides in the shuttle vans. Breakfast was delicious. Only wish we could have stayed another day to enjoy the spa and golf course.

It is always nice coming back to this "Inn". The name misleads you in very positive way. Golf courses and tennis courts are well maintained as always. People working here will greet you with the pride and the courtesy. While it is far away from Japan, we would like to go back some time not in the distant future.

We stayed at Chiswell-Bucktrout house in colonial Williamsburg. It's like staying in the 1700's. Small but beautiful canopy bed, period furnishings, but also the comforts you need in the 21'st century. Highly recommend this place. Ask for Maggie's room. Margaret Thatcher stayed there and it has a hidden bathroom. Love this place.

My BFF and I booked the afternoon tea at the Williamsburg Inn for $35 per person, including tax + gratuity. It was highly enjoyable; fantastic selection of finger foods, decadent teas, champagne or cider and impeccable service. My only suggestion would be to add music for ambiance. That would have put the experience over the top. My mother has attended this tea before, in the winter, and she stated there was live music. Music playing over speakers would have enhanced our experience.

Everything about this property exudes excellence. I will consider staying here for future trips to CW.
