“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2009

We arrived at the hotel on a Friday night for a weekend at Howl O Scream at Busch Gardens. The entire hotel was decorated up for Halloween. We were surprised to find granite/corian sink countertops and bathtub wall slabs in the bathroom. Very Very nice. Everything was neat and clean. We were called after 30 minutes of checking in to the room to ensure it met our needs. The breakfast was a nice spread of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, assortment of juices, coffee, breads, bagels, yogurt, bacon, eggs, and sausage. The breakfast dining area even has skeletons handing from the ceiling. Very festive for the Halloween season. I would recommend staying here again. The pool was open, but the overcast and temperatures in the 70s kept it too cool to swim. Staff were outside cleaning it the very next morning. The hotel was only 2 miles from Busch Gardens.

This hotel was very comfortable and clean. We had a room with 2 queen beds - standard size room. The extra sink/vanity outside the bathroom was helpful with 4 of us getting ready. A complimentary breakfast was included and had a wide variety of foods - a good way to start the day. The dining area was a bit cramped - removing a table or 2 would have given a bit more walking space. There was a small pool along with a children's pool and a nice patio area. I wish we had more time to use it. There were pc's in the lobby with internet access and if you had your own laptop, you could access the internet for free as well. All the employees we met were extremely friendly and helpful. The location was very close to Busch Gardens and Water Country ( a mile and half). It was only a 5-10 minute drive to Colonial Williamsburg and the outlet area, where there were more restaurants for dinner. It was a great value for our family.

We chose this hotel because of the reviews we had read on trip advisor. We were not dissapointed. The rooms were not big but were clean and just what we needed for a week stay. They put a refrigerator in our room which also helped. We traveled with a group of 17 people and no one complained at all about anything. The breakfast area was always packed in the morning but they did a good job of keeping up with the demand. It provided a very decent selection to choose from. The front desk staff was very helpful as well. It was also VERY close to everything we were interested in such as Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown and Busch Gardens. My only criticism is that the pool is very small and boring.

The staff was very pleasant to deal with. We chose this hotel based on ratings from TripAdvisor and the fact that there was a hot breakfast available, a savings of @ $25 per day for a family of 4 x 6 days. Unfortunately, there is a strong musty smell throughout the hotel. There are no ventilation fans in the rooms. There is large amounts of mildew on the walls in the bathroom, especially under the sink on the walls. There was pink mildew on the tub, the carpet was very wet from the a/c unit. The breakfast area only seats about 1/5 of the people there.
I was not looking for a Ritz/Carlton but clean is big on my list and this experience was not a pleasant one.

This hotel is perfect for a quick getaway when going to Busch Gardens or Water Country USA. We were a straight shot to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA, only about 5 minutes from each. About 10 minutes from restaurants. Rooms were clean, a little musty/damp feeling but turning the AC on helped and changed that quickly. We had 2 queen beds, a bath with sink and vanity, and a 2nd vanity area which was nice. Breakfast was decent....Krispy Kreme donuts, cereal, juice, bagels, yogurt, pretty standard. All in all for 5 days, we would stay here again - especially for the price.

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights in July. The hotel is located in a nice location, aout 3 miles to Water Country and Busch Gardens. It is also easy enough to get to Colonial Williamsburg by staying on Pocohontas Trl. We never had problems driving around the area to get where we wanted. The room was spacious and equipped with 2 double beds, a bathroom with a separate sink outside of the bathroom, as well as one in the bathroom, a sitting area, tv, and free wirless internet. The front desk staff was very accommodating in getting us a refrigerator within minutes of our request. The pool area was nevr crowded and was good for a quick refresher from the parks. The only problem we did notice was that the breakfast area was small and during the busy summer months it gets crowded quick. We went at several different times (8:30; 9:30; 8:00 and 7:30) and it was always very crowded and hard to get what you wanted. If you want to make sure you get those items you must cook (waffles, bagels, and bacon) then make sure to get down to the breakfast area early, otherwise you will be waiting a long time. Other than that, this hotel was worth what we paid.

I selected this particular hotel because of the additional 1/2 bath and the included breakfast. We usually stay in a condo in Williamsburg, but for one night this seemed a better deal. We could just get up, eat breakfast and get an early start in Busch Gardens. We had a king suite, which included a microwave, small sink, and refrigerator. Our grandsons slept on the sofa bed, where they had their own TV and the 1/2 bath (toilet and sink). The room was not new, but it was clean and properly maintained. Breakfast was good: waffles, bagels, do-nuts, fruit, juices, yogurt, cereal, bacon, eggs, sausages. Three attendants kept everything refilled and clean, but space was at a premium for the number of people trying to eat. I really liked the fact that check-in and check-out were at noon, and I don't know how they manage that. We checked in right at noon without any problems, so it must work. The grounds are less attractive than those at most other hotels in Williamsburg, where even the relatively inexpensive hotels have beautiful landscaping. The pool was small, but we went to Water Country and didn't need it. The hotel is easy to find (no one should be without GPS these days), and both Busch Gardens and Water Country are just a few minutes away. I wouldn't say that this hotel is spectacular, but it is certainly comfortable, roomy, and convenient.
