I stayed here with my husband and 1 yr old son for 6 nights in July. The king suite we got was awesome. Walking in the door of the room, you enter a living room area with sleeper sofa, chairs, desk and TV. Beyond that was the bathroom and a sink area outside the bathroom that included a mini fridge, cabinets and a microwave. Beyond this area was the bedroom that also included a TV. The arrangement worked perfectly for us since we could put our son to sleep in the bedroom, close the door and watch TV in the living area. The hotel offers a pool, mini golf and other activities and is located right next to the Visitor Center for the Williamsburg historic area. You can get a shuttle from the visitor center to the historic area or just walk there. Walking was easier for us since otherwise we had to load a stroller onto a sometimes crowded shuttle. The hotel isn't 5-star, but is very nice, comfortable and affordable, especially for families. The room was clean, but for those of you who are picky, I will note there were a few stains on the carpet. The hotel offers free continental breakfast, which was good, but somtimes crowded. There is a restaurant on the property (Huzzah's), and while the food was decent, the service was slow and the menu had little variety. Overall, our stay was excellent and I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This hotel is somewhat of a glorified motel, but it's still comfortable. It's not spotless clean, but it's not filthy either. There's no bell service. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast reminded me of a school cafeteria. Huzzah restaurant has decent pizza, which is the only decent dish on the menu because the rest of the food tasted like it was warmed up in a microwave. The hotel has a large pool, but the deepest point is only five feet. Yes, it's great for kids but adults have no room to swim. Some other negatives were that the hotel staff takes their time to bring extra towels or blankets, the vending machines on all three floors were out of water, and there's no safe in the room. Also, every room has a vent blasting air that is not controlled by the room's AC unit, which could make it quite chilly in the room, and the only way to stop it from blasting cold air is to tape it up. It's right next to the Williamsburg Visitor Center, so the location is awesome. It's a fifteen minute walk from Colonial Williamsburg or you can take a free shuttle to all points of the historical city. Overall, a very convenient hotel and a good value for the money.

If you are touring the historical area, this moderate priced hotel is very convenient. It it just a short walk to the visitor center and the free shuttle. Don't expect alot more and you won't be disappointed. Because our family split up for activities, this was the best choice for us. If we were touring together, we would have stayed at a nicer place for the same money.
Negatives: The hotel is very worn as it is a large, busy place. Each time we used the pool there weren't clean towels until I asked the front desk. Never a seat in the very busy breakfast area. Continental breakfast about as basic as you can get.
Positives: Location. Our room was always clean. Staff was pleasant and helpful.

We had a great time at the Woodlands, it was nice to be in the "country" after spending four days in DC. The room was very large and spacious for our family of 4. My two children, 9 and 11 were fine sharing the pull out couch and enjoyed their own tv, We had a comfy king size bed in our nice sized bedroom with a second tv. There were two sinks and a small fridge. Other people have mentioned the long walk, it is fine, we took the stairs to the 3rd floor each trip, our kids had no trouble finding the room when they went out on their own.

The breakfast is pretty good, but the room gets very crowded get there before 8 or after 9. The pizza at Huzzah is pretty good, nice easy option after a day of walking around.

There is a great 18 hole mini golf course, shuffled board, table tennis and a playgroud, for the kids to enjoy. The pool was large in comparision to other hotel pools I have seen.

One of the days we used the shuttle bus to get into Williamsburg and one day we walked, both were great options. The Visitor Center is right on the property and they offer a great discount on tickets.

I did not find the hotel staff nor gentlemen who seemed to be in charge of helping travelers to be terrificly helpful. I was only able to get a paper one day out of the 3 we were there.

The College of William and Mary is a great take, we walked from the hotel, and there are a lot of great dining options near the college, I asked the hotel staff where we could eat and they told me "there is no where to eat". Also, a great camera store near the campus if you need film, flash card, etc.

Our family spent 9 nights at the Woodlands Hotel. Over all it was a nice hotel - we wanted to be "On site" The beds are not the most comfortable, but they were not as bad as I was expecting them to be either. The sheets come on done at the bottom a lot, but we a used to a queen size bed too. We used the service of having purchased items form Colonial Williamsburg sent to our hotel often, so we didn't have to carry them around all day. We did like Hazzah's restraunt across the walk way a lot, but wish it was open earlier for lunch. Laundry was $1.75 a load for washer & dryer each. Laundry room was clean and 6 or 7 each of washers & dryers. The airconditioner in our room really worked great! Breakfast bar area consisted of starting out with using a paper 4 cup holder as a tray, then coffee, onto small pastries cherry, cream cheese, or pineapple, Milk 2% or skim only (no choc), then hot water & Oat Meal packages, next fresh fruit - apples, oranges, banana's , cold hard boiled eggs, dry cerials ... Cherios, Fruit Loops, Raison Bran, Etc. and then Juices - cranberry, orange, ... At the other end of the breakfast room is plain bagels, toast, toaster waffles, and egg muffins. The staff was always polite and prompt whenever we called for another blanket, or towels etc. Overall I was not disappointed, if the beds were queen sized I would have loved it! We have 5 in our family and had to use the 2 double beds.
