“Great Place for Families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

Recently, we took our son and his wife and our two grandsons to Colonial Williamsburg over Spring Break and we chose to stay at the Woodlands Inn which was a perfect spot for our family to stay. The staff was so friendly and it was next to visitor center where the shuttle to historic Williamsburg stopped. The inn was also within walking distance to the historic area. The boys loved the putt-putt golf course and playground. Good breakfast and the rates were very fair.

We always love staying here when we visit Colonial Williamsburg. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly! The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. The kids love the buffet breakfast, and enjoyed the ping pong & mini golf course outside. We love how convenient it is to the Visitor Center & in walking distance to the colonial town. We'll definitely be back again soon!

My husband and I stayed here for a short trip and were blown away by how wonderful the staff were. They always greeted us as we arrived from a day exploring and wished us well as we would leave the hotel. Overall, this is a very friendly hotel.

The location cannot be beat. The hotel is practically at the Visitor's Centre, making everything you could possibly need for the Revolutionary City within arm's reach. Additionally, if it's a nice day you can easily walk to the Revolutionary City from the hotel.

Aside from the hotel's physical experience taking you back to the late 1990s, my only complaint was the waffle mix. It was horribly watered down, but other than that, I'd stay here again and bring my own waffle mix.

My husband, 17 month old and I traveled to Williamsburg for a long weekend. We stayed : nights at the Woodlands. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating, the buffet breakfast was adequate (lots of pork options - we do not eat pork), but my daughter LOVED the fresh make your own waffles. The room was clean, and reasonably priced. We booked through the Colonial Williamsburg site, and were able to book a package including Colonial Williamsburg tickets. The location was great, though not on the property, was a relatively short walk. The area was quiet, the hotel was pleasant, and all in all we would definitely return.

I have stayed at the Woodlands several times and it is a good choice in it's price category for a weekend at Williamsburg. The location is great; walkable to the Visitor Center and therefore easy for catching the very convenient bus to the historic area (now called the Revolutionary City) and Market Square. As I am usually there with several friends, we always choose a Suite as it gives us an add'l area to get together as a group. The rooms are clean and attractive with ample space to put things. There is a second sink outside the bathroom which is helpful if three are staying in the room. They provide a refrigerator and a Keurig coffee machine with a selection of coffees but feel free to bring your own favs and a pint of cream as it is very convenient to have a great cup of coffee in the morning before going to breakfast.
Breakfast.... is included but here is the caveat.....it is very crowded in the self service dining room. Two lines offer scrambled eggs, potatos and sausage patties as well as yogurt, cut fruit, bananas and packaged cereal, muffins and banana bread. There is a separate waffle station, a toast and bagel station and a coffee and juice station. The coffee is not good. All in all, breakfast is not gourmet but it gets the job done and and I've never seen it when it wasn't packed with families. Up to you...we prefer to go to the Raleigh Tavern Bakery in the Revolutionary City for excellent pastry and really good coffee or hot cider.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating if you request something. This is a convention hotel as well and that brings me to the one serious downfall. The internet connection, important to me because we transact business while still getting to enjoy a weekend away, is so slow it may as well not be there. I could not check email except sporadically and the download speed is so slow the Colonial Williamsburg app for iPad is completely useless as you will never get it to load. As a convention hotel I would think the connection would be superior. I asked about it on checkout and was told there were probably too many people trying to access it. So upgrade it....
That said, I would stay there again and I think it is a good value.

Room Tip: The Suites are well worth the small extra price. Also, don't worry about being on the main floor...

We stayed at the Woodlands Hotel and Suites in July 2013. We were so pleased with this hotel and it's location. I can't say enough about this hotel!! The staff was wonderful, extremely accommodating. There is a fantastic restaurant Huzzah right onsite that we had dinner at. Our three children were thrilled to find that at the hotel they had a great pool, mini golf, and shuffle board. The hotel has a complimentary breakfast buffet included in your stay. They had eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, bagels, fruits, and yogurt. The visitors center is on site were you can buy your tickets to Colonial Williamsburg, and you can purchase your refillable mug here that you can re-fill with soda, and even ice-cream in town. It was a nice savings for us to have these! You can either take a short walk into Colonial Williamsburg from here or take the shuttle bus from the visitors center. We definitely want to go back for another stay!

My family stayed at The Woodlands over Presidents weekend and had a blast. Great breakfast which is included, you can walk or take the nearby shuttle buses to Revolutionary City. We went to a special breakfast with The President’s, Jefferson, Washington, and Madison, very entertaining and fun! My husband played golf on the Golden Horseshoe, I went to the Spa, and my kid’s played miniature golf. Woodlands staff is friendly and the hotel is one of our favorites in Colonial Williamsburg.
