“Great Hotel, Perfect Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2010

The Williamsburg Lodge is the perfect base for exploring the Colonial Village. It is one small city block away from the heart of the village. We got a great AAA rate for the night, and purchased discount passes to the village through the hotel. We ate at the Lodge Lounge, a bar area serving mainly sandwiches and burgers prepared through the hotel's main kitchen. The food was decent, nothing to rave about. We did not eat at the main restaurant, as it was much more expensive and didn't look too kid-friendly. They do, however, serve very good free coffee in the morning, and ice water with oranges all day in the hotel lobby (very refreshing after a hot day walking the town). The room was charmingly decorated in a folk-art style, with wood floors, raised bed, etc., but the bathroom was very clean and modern. Considering the bargain price, and proximity to the Colonial village, this hotel is perfect for families on a budget that want to immerse themselves in American history.

We stayed mid-week and had a nice time. The hotel was in a great location - in the historic district of Williamsburg. It was nice to walk less than a block to the hotel after a day of exploring the town.

Beautiful "hotel".....wonderful accommodations - made the room comfy even with young children. beautiful grounds and easy walking access to EVERYTHING! Loved it! ONe caution - ask about programs early when you book your trip - some programs for children sell out in advance!

This is our second visit to the Lodge and we really enjoyed the hotel this time. We stayed in a newly reboavted section and that made the difference for us. We used the Williamsburg reservation system and booked tee times and took the breakfast package. The front desk was great and we had not one complaint1

I just returned home from a wonderful stay at the Williamsburg Lodge. I was so impressed with the hotel. The location was perfect and the room was much more than I anticipated after reading some of the reviews on Trip Advisor. We stayed in the Ashby Building. It was easy to get to our car in the garage and easy to get to Colonial Williamsburg -- about a 5 minute walk -- we didn't walk too fast due to the 95 degree weather!

I hesitated between this hotel and another a bit closer to William and Mary campus. The purpose of our trip was to take my son to the College to begin his freshman year. We went down a day early and spent a total of two nights in the Lodge. It took about 15 minutes to walk from our room to the beginning of the campus. And what a fun walk it was down Duke of Glouchester Street. This morning I went to a great farmer's market at the end of D.O.G. Street.

I can't wait to return to the Williamsburg Lodge. Everyone was so nice on the staff and the decorations were beautiful. Our room was just perfect.

From the time that we drove to the entrance to our exit, it was just wonderful! All of the staff treated you like royalty! There was always a pleasant greeting & asking if they could help. The rooms were quite comfortable & quiet. It is a great place for walking , eating, learning & shopping. The location could not have been better - if you did not want to walk , the bus was available. The least thing that my husband did not like about this hotel was the TV! It did not have many channel choices nor was it LED.

We visited Colonial Williamsburg over 4th of July weekend and this hotel was the perfect location – right in the heart of the town and a short walk to entire village. We read about the hotel near the visitor center and unless you have been there, you would not know that the visitor center is a DRIVE away. Williamsburg Lodge was reasonable, had big rooms, two huge pools (they shared with another property across the street) and easy access to everything. This was the perfect place to stay for us and we were able to enjoy everything there was to see and do in Colonial Williamsburg.
