I wrote an excellent review for our stay here in 2012. Unfortunately we did not have an excellent experience this year. The quality of the accomadtions depends on which part of the hotel your room is located in. We were given a room at the very end of the lodge beside the parking garage and the entrance for all service trucks and hotel workers. The view looked out over the parking garage and overgrown shrubbery. It was like going through a maze to find your way out of the room back to the main part of the lodge. The bathroom was extremely tiny with no vanity, just a tiny sink. The carpet was stained and seemed to be glued on a cement floor with no padding. The TV was very small and difficult to see.

If you stay here, try to get the Ashby or Custis areas which are newer and look out onto beautiful little courtyards and the main street. On the plus side, the staff at the front desk and the restaurant were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast buffet was delicious. I would definitely recommend staying here, just make sure you get a room in the newer sections.

We stayed in the Tyler guesthouse - beautiful place! The rooms are big, beds are really comfortable. Everything in the entire Lodge was clean and all staff were very nice. Close to Colonial Williamsburg so you can walk from there. The pools are SO nice. We got lucky to arrive on an 80 degree day in April, thanks to outdoor heated pools, it was like being at the beach!

This stay was a definite improvement over our last. We requested a room away from the main building, which was way too noisy from the bar.

The room was nice, and quite clean. My only real complaint was the bed, which was uncomfortably hard.

As for value, you pay dearly for the privilege of walking across the street to the historic area. I recently paid a little more than half the price for a Hampton Inn in another city for a similar room with a much better bed.

The room was very nice and clean. The staff were outstanding and friendly. Very helpful. I attended a conference for three days. My disappointment was in the meals, particularly breakfast. The eggs tasted like powered eggs. Would recommend staying there but not eating. The location and bus services was wonderful.

Perfect location near Colonial Williamsburg! Short walk into Colonial city and to Merchant Square. Nice room with colonial furnishings. The service by all staff members was excellent! Package including tickets to Colonial city for all 3 days, breakfast each morning and a gift card (we used it for dinner in historic taverns) made it a great value. As guests at a CW hotel, we also got a 25% discount on tickets to evening programs. Good breakfast buffet with many choices. So glad we stayed on site and were able to leave the car and walk everywhere. Highly recommend this over the chain hotels nearby!

Our family of 4 stayed in this property for the second time in a 6 month period. The price was terrific for a brief spring break trip. The room itself (king bed & sofa sleeper) was lovely and clean. White linens throughout. Housekeeping is always great at this property. We really enjoy staying here as the staff and grounds are great. Overall, another great stay & we would highly recommend it. The price was right too.

Room Tip: Ask for the Tyler building.

Beautiful Lodge! Went for a special event and everything was perfect! The Bride and Groom were thrilled! Nothing was too much for the staff! They seemed to know what you wanted before you asked for it! The rooms are lovely and big! You can walk to the historic area and they have great restaurants at reasonable prices! Perfect for any special event or a family vacation! Within a short walk they also have a great golf course, spa and a health club for working out! Cannot recommend enough!!

Room Tip: The way the Lodge has been built it does not appear that there is a bad area to have a room. So much...
