4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

The room was very nice and clean. The staff were outstanding and friendly. Very helpful. I attended a conference for three days. My disappointment was in the meals, particularly breakfast. The eggs tasted like powered eggs. Would recommend staying there but not eating. The location and bus services was wonderful.

Perfect location near Colonial Williamsburg! Short walk into Colonial city and to Merchant Square. Nice room with colonial furnishings. The service by all staff members was excellent! Package including tickets to Colonial city for all 3 days, breakfast each morning and a gift card (we used it for dinner in historic taverns) made it a great value. As guests at a CW hotel, we also got a 25% discount on tickets to evening programs. Good breakfast buffet with many choices. So glad we stayed on site and were able to leave the car and walk everywhere. Highly recommend this over the chain hotels nearby!

Our family of 4 stayed in this property for the second time in a 6 month period. The price was terrific for a brief spring break trip. The room itself (king bed & sofa sleeper) was lovely and clean. White linens throughout. Housekeeping is always great at this property. We really enjoy staying here as the staff and grounds are great. Overall, another great stay & we would highly recommend it. The price was right too.

Room Tip: Ask for the Tyler building.

Beautiful Lodge! Went for a special event and everything was perfect! The Bride and Groom were thrilled! Nothing was too much for the staff! They seemed to know what you wanted before you asked for it! The rooms are lovely and big! You can walk to the historic area and they have great restaurants at reasonable prices! Perfect for any special event or a family vacation! Within a short walk they also have a great golf course, spa and a health club for working out! Cannot recommend enough!!

Room Tip: The way the Lodge has been built it does not appear that there is a bad area to have a room. So much...

I think the tough part about reviewing this hotel is determining what part of the hotel someone stays in since it's so spread out. At least that's what I gathered when reading reviews while planning our trip. We stayed in the Nicholas Building which is right across the courtyard from the main entrance. Our room was very nice..........large and clean and overlooked the front entrance. It has two floors and there is an elevator for anyone who requires it. The Lodge is terrific. Access to the historic area is right there. Everyone on the staff was attentive, friendly and professional. And I mean everyone. We had a package that included breakfast, which was very good. Again, the quality of food and and service staff was top notch. The Spa, which we visited was right across the street. The Lodge has a nice gift shop, beautiful grounds and all areas of the Lodge were very clean. There is also concierge in the lobby if you need to make reservations or buy tickets for any program. All in all, this was a great find with a location that can't be beat.

Room Tip: Ask lots of questions when chosing a room since some people like to stay in the main part of the lod...

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Lodge. We have stayed there for many years. This trip was very nice. Everything was in good order. If you want a nice clean placea to stay the Lodge is your place.

If you are visiting Colonial Williamsburg, location of your hotel makes the visit much better if you can easily walk from your accommodations to the restored city. Only the Lodge, the Inn and the other 2 or 3 accommodations the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation operates are close enough to eliminate your need to drive, find and pay for parking. Also since you will want to spend full days walking around, it's nice to be able to walk back to your hotel for a rest break, not to mention you then never depart the colonial atmosphere. I have stayed at the Lodge 5 or 6 times and for the little extra money, as compared to the big box hotels outside the restored area, the Lodge gives you nice accommodations, access to the next door 5 star Williamsburg Inn's spa and pool, and most other amenities you need. And while the Lodge's restaurant is not one I would recommend, except for breakfast, there are 5-6 other restoration restaurants and several very nice local ones all within a healthy walking distance of the Lodge.

Room Tip: The older building has convenient drive in/out parking but the rooms are a little dated. The new bu...
